Anyone got any recommendations for an overnight stay in DC? It looks simple enough to find somewhere very close to the airport, but does anyone know of any that are close to the airport while still being near to stuff for a stroll???

Dulles is pretty remote, but check out hotels in Reston. It's a modern place, with great restaurants, good shopping (check out Clydes for seafood) and a range of hotels. The Hyatt Regency is probably best placed for walking (and even has a shuttle to Dulles) which is 5 to 10 minutes away.

We stayed with friends in Reston last year. We only took a car borne guided tour round the city itself, but it like a decent place to take a stroll and find somewhere to eat.

slinks I think Cat is asking about DC hotels? If so Cat,
IAD is a little way out of DC itself.Plenty of airport hotels about all of which will be fine (but uninspiring

).

Dear Lady Dragon, I was taking "close to the airport while still being near to stuff for a stroll" as a clue ...

Sorry folks, I seem to have a talent for confusing! I meant near the airport, as DL realised. We'll be moving on the next day, but due to arrive in DC around 3pm, so was trying to find a way of staying awake and also not wasting the rest of the day. Well, once customs etc are cleared etc...
