Re-entry to the US with the same 90 day visa waiver?

I've travelled to the US several times in the last ten years and had a good experience with the border folks. Because of the horror stories though, it always makes me nervous, as for many! :$

This time I'm going back for the 2nd time in 3 months because of two industry conventions back to back. While this is all OK in the rules, I'm intrigued because in my passport I have a stamp admitting me to the US up until the end of June (90 days from the last time I arrived) and I'm travelling this Friday.

Does the valid admission / 90 days visa waiver from my last trip mean they might look at my passport and wave me through, or will it be the typical barrage of questions while simultaneously getting fingerprinted and a new stamp in the passport?

Don't worry about it at all. You will get a new stamp/fingerprinted/waved on your way with a cheery smile.

Decker is absolutely right...expect a thousand questions, little humour and maybe, if your lucky, a false 'have a nice day'

In all honesty it will all be fine but you may be questioned why your visits are frequent. If you have genuine answers you have nothing to worry about :D

They are not obliged to give you a new 90 day visa if your existing one covers your new trip.

I have always been given a new stamp in the passport, and usually been fingerprinted again -- even when the re-entry has been literally just a few days after the previous one.

I disagree with Tonty and go with you will get a new stamp. I have a 2 year visa till Aug 13 and still get the whole shebang every time

I'm not saying they won't give a new stamp and 90 days just that they are not obliged to.

I've done this many, many, times - they'll always issue a new stamp.

Thanks folks - I shall steel myself for the usual always-easier-than-I-think-it'll-be interrogation ;-) And I'll let you know if they give me an extra stamp or not!

When you leave the US (to most countries, US dependencies and some Caribbean islands do not count) your VWP is terminated. When you re-enter, you need a new one. Simples.

Exactly. Canada *used* to be different (thinking back to when I used to go back and forth around 2000/2001) but since the tightening, it's been classed the same : You leave, you come back fresh.
