ASA to investigate Skytrax - ruling issued 7/11/12

ASA has announced that it is
to investigate Skytrax over its airline reviews Many of us have been sceptical at Skytrax's impartiality in posting reviews and there is anecdotal evidence that favourable reviews about some airlines are not posted but that negative ones are and some airlines seem to be promoted over others. So I welcome this and wonder if any V-Flyers have sent in reviews to Skytrax and what has been their experience?

It has been my experience that any reviews I've posted about Virgin Atlantic haven't been published. It was a while ago since I last tried though. Once you get the feeling they're editorialising, it makes you less inclined to be bothered to write a review.

The 2 positive reviews I've submitted were never published. I even had an email back all but accusing me of writing a fake review.

If you still have it maybe send it to the ASA?

I sent a review in a while back that was not published, it was generally positive.

Mine was edited by them...
And their rules claim they're allowed to change your review without your consent or prior notice - once THEIR version is published, it's stuck there.

Very interesting to compare the KwikChex rating for SkyTrax and some other well known travel sites. Link:

Just digging this back up. The ASA have upheld all the complaints against Skytrax.
It's a long ruling, but in essence, the ASA have severely restricted Skytrax's ability to make the claims they do and it has junked their rating and reviews. For full details, follow the link.

Having skim-read the report. It's just about as comprehensive a damning verdict as you can get.

Interestingly, the SkyTrax idiots seem to believe the ruling is somewhat in their favour...?!
