EK Gold pack

I got to Au with Emirates at the end of January and my gold pack arrived this morning.

Thought I would post photos to show you what they give out. I had a choice of "noise reducing headphones" or a mobile phone charger kit. I opted for the latter.

Also included are a couple of luggage tags and, of course, the membership card.

It was nicely packaged in a wooden box, I am quite impressed.

All very impressive, but remember the standard of the service you had to put up with...oh, hang on a minute.... :D

I know it was awful what they put him through - making him eat all that lovely food and drink what seemed to be about 8 bottles of champagne too !

To say nothing of the mountain of amenity kits he must have stashed somewhere...

They probably have pens in which just show how awful they are!

Actually I do seem to have rather a lot.

So here you are. These have the same contents in in J (canvas bag) and F (leather bag), although in F you also get a writing kit and PEN and more lotions as well as jimjams and slippers!!

I would imagine there are other pens on board but I have never asked. The business centres in the lounges have shed loads (well, shed loads minus a good few now!!!)

Bulgari is not a smelly I would buy (Marc Jacobs for me) but it would be a tad churlish to complain!

Did you get them on all legs of your trips? I did a quick google on the issue and Lordy is there a maelstrom of posts about the lack of amenity kits in J on certain flights....

Paul,
My OZ flights have featured overnight legs to both DXB and then either BNE or SYD. The returns from OZ to DXB have been overnight. Amenity kits have been given on each of those, the qualifier being overnight.

I have returned from DXB to LHR each time on a daytime flight, the EK001, ..no amenity kit has been offered on that although I am sure I could get one now, if they had them on board, as a perk of the status.

I think that I read somewhere that you get a kit on daytime flights of over 7 hours.

I've been Au with EK for years, and the amenity kits have got better and better. I love my F class leather washbag :)

I've never know them give out the kits on day flights (they have a much simpler little pack for those) but I once asked for one on a day flight (I had forgotten to pack my own kit) and one appeared instantly with a smile.

Watch and learn, VS....

My god... I want one... bye bye VS :P

Are those real luggage tag cords too? Not some random lanyards that keep fraying or cheap leather ones that keep coming undone.. Yes VS look and learn, this is what we want. 8D

Joey, yes they are.

And do you know the funniest thing of all? My flights to OZ in J on EK cost significantly less than VS UC.

Both legs of our flight back from SYD will count as day flights, so no kits then B)

On one of the other fora someone suggested that EK was reclassifying flights so as to avoid having to give out kits in J. I think they were joking....

Edited to add: David, I've seen a post in another forum that says yes if > 6.5 hr flight...woo hoo...not that I'm shallow, you understand.

Hmm! My flights to Durban via DXB are both daytime flights with a 10 hour layover in Dubai. EK will put me up at their expense for the layover which is great but I suppose it would be churlish to expect amenity kits although the flights are over 7 hours each. :? The DXB-DUB leg is overnight so at least I'm guaranteed one. :D

On an aside, with an itinerary that reads DUB-DXB-DUR, it's very confusing so I just hope the baggage tags get things in the right order :o)

Wow! I'm not an 'amenity kit' type of person really - I consider it a triumph if I remember to pack a toothbrush - but those are impressive. I especially like the writing kit.

Sadly this really highlights how far VS has slipped in this regard. :(

They look lovely and I appreciate they may be used less on a day flight but hopefully they have a few spare for those that do need them.
I am flying to SYD in First and will be trying to limit the jet lag by sleeping and eating on local time - can't imagine l will be the only one sleeping on the LHR-DXB leg although it leaves at 1335 hrs?

If you are in First, just ask - seriously, one will be whisked to you on a tray with a smile, and an apology for not bringing it sooner. You think I'm joking, wait and see!

Just to echo Sarastro's comment :D . I found that the service with EK in F on the 380 to be incredible and was actively told that if there was ANYTHING that I wanted just to ask ( and they really did mean it ).
FWIW the leather washbags are lovely :D .

Just another thought - remember that EK have men's and women's kits - so if you're a lady, yours will be cream, with different contents (no razor for a start, and perfume not aftershave!)

I got bored with amenity kits a long time ago but those EK ones made me take an instant interest again!!
Just a thought here.....
Perhaps the OP (or someone) could post a side by side of both the EK First and VS Upper amenity kits ):
Granted Upper is not First but VS decided not to make that distinction.........
The powers that be may just manage to see the pics and take note.........

The real comparison for UC is with the EK business one. Photos attached.

As you can see it is a canvas/part leather bag and the contents are almost the same...except the antiperspirant is bigger in the F kit(???). Socks and eye shades are provided at the seat in both F and J. In the lavatories there are stocks of shaving kits, toothbrush/paste, flannels and Madame and Monsieur Rocha smellies.

So all you need now is photos of a VS UC pack.

Is the stocking in the lavatories across both F and J ?

Yes, absolutely - although on the A380, the F suite has showers, a full size bathroom and lots of nice smellies :)

That's larger than my daughter's flat in Manchester... :)

As tempting as it may be, enough family silver has been sold off to finance the J class trip.

I also have to remind myself that we're going out on QF metal and back on EK, but thanks to Jacki I now know that it will be 380 all the way in both directions...
