Which FF number should I use?

Hi

I have a upcoming trip to the US at the end of April. I will be traveling DUB-ORD-DEN-ATL-DUB. I will be traveling with AA.

Q. Should I use my BA Exec Blue number or my Cathay Pacific Gold (which I got with AMEX). If I use my BA no. can I use my Cathay Pacific card for lounge access?

I hope this makes sense. :?

Thanks

John

Use your Cathay gold John. I did that same thing when I flew ba to Edinburgh. Cx gold got me all the perks. Ba blue, I did confirm with the staff, would have got me nothing. And once your membership is in the system they won't recognise a different card.

Agreed with Jimmy, CX Gold will get you the lounge access and any miles bonus with certain fares (I know the rules on this are changing not sure when though), which in turn you can transfer across to spend on BA if ya want :P

It is possible to put your blue exec on the booking to get the miles directly from it, and subsequently use the Cathay Gold to get into the lounge but it will require a supervisor in the know and a lounge staff that won't argue :P Save yourself the trouble I say y)

I would use the CX account because it attaches your OW status to the booking, which increases by some tiny fraction your chance of an op-up.

BTW, it really shouldn't matter either way for lounge access. Your CX card should get you into the lounge, and they really should know that because the OW access policy is pretty straightforward.

Put your CX number in and reserve a seat, then change it back to BAEC so you get the Avios credited to BAEC.

Show your CX card for lounge access, it doesn't need to be on the boarding pass. The chance of an OpUp is so low it's not really worth it imho.

Use http://www.finnair.com to change your frequent flyer number between CX and BA.

Thanks for the advice. y)

All booked now. I used my CX number.

Looking forwards to a great trip. I'll be driving from Denver to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, then on to Atlanta to visit family, via Nashville.
