Hi,

Anyone know how to remove the bizcoaching pop up (pc)? I know most of you here are firm apple users, but am hoping someone may know the answer to this.

I've googled it enough to know it's a virus that's infected the machine, and there are any number of options pointing to software to remove it - but I'm always suspicious until/unless I know any particular one is safe. I already run a virus checker, and went to run it manually (it runs automatically too) - but it flashes onto the screen and then disappears, no doubt also as a result of this wretched virus.

Thoughts/help please????

It's not a virus in the traditional sense as its not your operating software that's been affected but rather your web browser has been modified to show certain pages (and this can affect Mac users as well). The virus checker won't find anything as there's no virus!

To fix simply totally delete your web browser (Firefox, Chrome etc), delete the cache, cookies, history and reinstall it all from scratch. See here for step by step instructions

*Edit I do not recommend downloading anything that claims to remove this from your computer as for all you know you could be adding something else onto it!

You are correct it is a form of Malware that infects your system. Shutdown your computer, power it on and as soon as you switch it on keep tapping F8 every other second and you should get a boot options screen. On this screen select Safe Mode with networking.

A lot of stuff will scroll through on your screen, dont worry, you will be able to log into your machine after a few minutes. It may prompt you to use System restore, select the option you are happy work is safe mode.

Now open internet explorer and go to

http://www.malwarebytes.org and download the free version and install it. Once its installed update the program to have the latest virus definitions. Then select full system scan.

Now go and have a cup of tea......

Once its finished scanning select remove all infections and let it remove what it finds. Restart your pc and you should be good to go!

It does no harm running another scan when you are logged in normally as sometime these things can lay dormant in memory,

Thank you so much. Would that also be the cause of IE crashing on that machine? It's working fine on the laptop...

Update: nothing suggested helped, though I did manage to remove some malware. Running a virus check now crashes the pc too, it kind of suggests a problem with either or both system files or the registry (I think). Which makes me think the only solution would be to delete everything and reinstall. Horrendous. Tme to throw it out???

try, start, run

then type sfc /scannow

that will check all system files

I sometimes use Hijackthis in safe mode and it's fixed a lot of issues I've had in the past. Can be quite difficult to understand though. Try googling a Hijackthis log analyser to help.

I also find some anti virus/malware programs pick up things that others don't. I don't think there is one out there that'll find absolutly everything.

Also try Spybot Search and Destroy. Oh and Adaware maybe. Run all in safe mode. Shut down and restart after each scan/clean.

Thanks snicker, worth trying. Though we're fast coming to the conclusion that its going out of the window. Himself was even mentioning replacing it with a mac. Yes, yes, I know... But I have a lot of backed up files I need to keep, in both word and excel. Not to mention video clips of our little guys, what would I do about those, can I convert them????

Macs can read all Office files as well a PDF's without having any extra software.

You can purchase an MS Office version for a Mac if you need it or there's Apple's own Numbers or Pages word processor & spreadsheet apps (which can view or edit Office files)

Video and pics are no problem what so ever as well. Something like the free VNC software which will play virtually any video file type on a Mac.

VNC is a thing (it's used for remotely accessing your desktop from other devices)

So what exactly is the situation with online security and apple? I'd always been led to believe they were invulnerable to Trojans, viruses and malware, but there was something in the papers recently to suggest they're more vulnerable than previously thought. Though I do have an ipad, I've always shied away from buying anything using it.

The Beeb programme 'Click' even mentioned virus checker software for macs the other week. Am I being paranoid by not using my ipad for purchases? What do all you Mac aficionados out there do?
