Width vs Pitch

I woud've posted this as a poll but I can't see the option for it.

I've noticed on other forums that airlines are examining increasing economy seating density by narrowing seat widths to get an extra seat in across the cabin. However, for some aircraft this goes against their original design necessating increased seat pitch in order to (slightly) reduce the number of rows in order to limit the floor loading weight of seats and passengers.

Mainly this seems to be A350XWB going to 10 abreast and A380 going to 11 abreast.

As a poll therefore I was wondering who prefers:
- A narrower seat with slightly more legroom
- Most current layouts

Well, narrowing the seats and taking them to beyond their original design spec is a very good way to encourage people to pay a little bit more to fly their competition and not be crammed in like a sardine... Which airlines are seriously considering this? I read an article a while back which had all manner of redesign suggestions and I believe this one was completely torn to shreds by seat designers and the aircraft manufacturers :?

Guess which side of the fence I will be on..

Current layouts. y)

I would not prefer narrower seats. After a 13.5hr flight back from Singapore in an exit seat my mind is made up.

With regards to layouts. Im with Joey on this, current layouts for me. If we are talking UC layouts then reverse herringbone would be cool.

Narrower the better if you ask me, maybe option to have to sit cross legged.

I suppose it depends on an individuals physical dimensions.
Much narrower and some will not be able to fit in!
Lose enough weight and Econ will feel like PE!
And I guess the 6 foot plus people want/need all the leg room they can get.
Width with a decent foot/leg rest is my preference.
Agree on the exit row seats - loads of space in front, but what exactly can you do with it??
