The long way home

So after a very quick ten day trip to NZ the time has come to leave it all behind and get back to reality.
I decided to stay overnight at the Heartlands Hotel which is a couple of minutes drive from AKL and reasonably priced £67 booked on the day through hotels.com via the VS shopping page 6 miles per pound.
Up at 0510 for a shower and to checkout, filled the rental car up en route dropping the keys off on my walk through the international terminal, check in and security were a breeze although I forgot I needed to fill out a departure card, I was in the Air NZ Koru lounge having breakfast by 0600 y)
Boarding for the VA051 to SYD to begin at 0715.

Not a great start it's 0745 and still no VA staff at the gate v( .
No info about any delay from VA however the Airport screens are now saying an 0900 departure not 0800. It looks like my connection at SYD just got shorter, just hope I have time to see someone about an upgrade.

You make all the connections? and, more importantly, did you snag that upgrade?

Thanks for all the concern, as we only landed half an hour late connections were not an issue.
All those crossed fingers must have counted for something as I got an op up, I'm currently sat in the HKG CH enjoying Champers and Ice Cream.
