Good morning all!
Very excited about our trip to IAD in less than two weeks...going out in UC for the first time in 10 years, so looking forward to all the trimmings that come with that y) ^)
I have been looking at prices of taxis etc from the airport to DC centre and seen a vast price range from $80 - $190 :0 Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced pre-book able private transfer/car service or is it best to jump in a cab?
As always, I appreciate your infinite wisdom oo)
Ps Hoping that the Federal shutdown is sorted by then v(

Absolutely love Washington DC! An amazing place, you will really enjoy it.
Do you have plans?
Whereabouts are you staying? We stayed in Falls Church (near Arlington) the first time we went in 2010. We took a taxi from the airport and it was about $45 into Falls Church. The journey was about 25 minutes (ish). Not sure how much help that will be?
If memory serves, the public transport is very, very good if you are not hiring a car while you are out there.

I always use the
Washington Flyer coach service to get me to West Falls Church ($18 return or $10 each way and takes around 30 mins). They also offer a taxi or shared van service as well.
I then use the subway from there to get into the city which is another 20mins or so depending where you are going.

I got a taxi a few weeks ago and it cost $80 including tip. That was on a Saturday but with a fair amount of traffic. My final destination was Woodley Park.

We are staying at the Marriot at Metro Center and have the usual plans (subject to US Government) White House, Arlington, Monuments, shopping, restaurants and, of course, bars y)

Appreciate that Gpik, not as expensive as I had seen on the web

Was there 2 weeks ago, we prebooked a shared van through 'Supershuttle'. The cost was $39 for 2 of us oneway.
We were staying at the Embassy Suites Downtown, close to Georgetown.
Have a good time, Washington is a great city to explore.
