Seems a 747 Dreamlifter landed at the wrong airport, it can't turn around and there are concerns the runway it too short for it to take off - all seems a little strange ?|

Oh my, if that story is true, that's a really bad day at the office for the crew. Overreliance on autopilot or fat fingers when punching the wrong Kansas into the GPS...final landing check is always 'look out of the (unreadable) window with the Mk1 eyeball'!

Pilots...arrogant? :w Ahem. Anyway, I hope their company policy is "you flew it in, you get it out"! )

Well if all else fails they can unload the cargo, put minimum fuel in it, and do the short 5 min flight to the proper airport. That should work, although they'll need to transport the load by road to get it back on ... presumably it was carrying sections of the 787 fuselage?

Now we know what the next specs avers advert will be. Lol

Surely when radioing for clearance ATC would have seen that the flight is not on their schedule and queried it?

Firstly there is no ILS so this would have been a visual approach at night. What is shocking is that clearly the crew did not look at any of the charts to familiarise themselves with the layout of McConnell.

Here is the ATC from the evening. The ATC should take some responsibility for this no doubt. The best bit is that they initially thought they had landed at Beach Airport not Jabara (as they did) or McConnell as they should have! Its amazing how long it takes them to ascertain which airport they are actually at!

Apparently Jabara and McConnell have very similarly aligned runways, and are pretty close. Clearly someone in the cockpit mis-identifed a landmark when making the approach. Its amazing though that ATC didnt realise!

The aircraft didn't need to be offloaded or drained of fuel at all. Flew out at Noon local time.

As an aside this reminded me of that Taca, I think, plane that landed on a levy at MSY!
