...and yet, VS will STILL claim innovation "because they have the Clubhouse at LHR".

Dear lord...... I'm not quite sure if that is genius or madness. Genius to appeal to those with bank balances hovering just below chartering their own plane, or madness with it likely flying 1/2 - 3/4 empty.

I remember flying SQ when they first introduced the suites on the A380. Two long hauls via SIN and there was a grand old total of one person using them.

Although, I say good on Etihad for moving the finishing line. It is probably best not to compare them to VS Paul, it may make us look in the mirror and realise that VS have indeed lost that special something (..for now) 8D

Oh indeed it is, LON-AUH rtn will be from £12630.00 PLUS taxes. On a 6hr 50m flight!!!!

SYD looks like it will be £21040.00 plus tax.

Question is, with airlines continuing to raise the bar - where will it end? Will some airlines feel that its going too far and choose not to compete? Or is this just a case of the ME3 airlines saying 'look - mines bigger than yours'!!!!

So true, don't forget however they've put a plastic pen back in the UC amenity kit.
:D

At that sort of price, surely a private jet would be more cost-effective?

Private jet? Maybe not. Private jets can't fly the same sorts of distances non-stop, so for a wealthy millionaire (of which I'm sure there are a few in the UAE) this would have real appeal. I think it would be interesting just to see the people who booked The Residence!

wow!

what a conundrum to the lucky occupant.. whether to go to bed and get a good sleep on a long flight, or stay up and play!

Wow
On another level!
As was said up thread at least VS have finally added a plastic pen in the UC amenity kit to help with filling out the landing card lol
Woo hoo! Lol
I think if VS get back in the black they do need to up their game
However having said all that on the route I travel I would say VS are the most appealing especially as when I look at the ANA website for example, nothing really makes me want to fly ANA except perhaps for the flight time and and the fact they fly direct to HND. VS for me still have some sparkle.

I think the Etihad new suites are amazing but ridiculous, but there will be someone willing to pay for it no doubt.

Who needs a plastic pen when I have new Bellroy hand made passport wallet with its own slimline pen for just that very purpose, so ner!

Don't think I will ever experience it, but if it keeps airlines in profit and/or fares down for other seat classes bring it on.

Friday's Eurolottery winner could burn some pound notes on that.
