Until recently Amex Plat gave you superb travel insurance as part of their package.

This changed a year or two ago to only give you the "full" package if you have paid using their card.

Our next flights are combo flights ie miles outbound and paid inbound, using the Amex to cover the inbound costs and the taxes from the outbound.

Does anyone know if this would give us the full coverage or just the limited one ?|

The following benefits are dependent on use of the Card:
Cancelling, Postponing and Abandoning your Trip;
Cutting Short Your Trip;
Travel Inconvenience;
Personal Belongings, Money and Travel Documents;
Purchase Protection;
Refund Protection;

Just paying the "cash proportion" of the fare costs will be fine for this. They accept people use miles etc. basically the only payment needed for the flights etc is being used on the card.

Remember everything else would still be live, i.e. your medical cover etc. even if you don't use the card and if you can prove any part of your travel was though a supplier who won't accept Amex, you would also be ok.

I'd ring them if you want complete confidence.
