HI,
never stayed at this hotel before, does anyone have any useful tips, advice. I have read elsewhere about poor mobile phone reception? can anyone recommend which rooms do have service? I am not driving to the hotel so will not be using the parking.

I use Marriotts for business so have quite a few reward points to use. We always stay at the Courtyard LGW. Not the most luxurious but very comfortable. The rooms mostly face in towards an atrium and we always ask for an outward facing room. Mostly we get one. Consider a £20 or so surcharge for an upgrade to a mini suite. It's really only a larger room but we think it's worth it. The room service menu is OK and reasonably priced.
To get to the terminal is a 5 min walk or you can catch the bus (every 20 mins)or a cab.
We always find the staff at reception very good.
Hope you enjoy the stay!

That hotel is indeed (or at least was) a mobile signal black hole when I last stayed there, though that was a couple of years ago now. Nice clean rooms but very expensive WiFi access - the cynic in me says there's a link there somewhere!!

No hesitations in staying there again though.

The staff where aware of the mobile signal issue and did say it was going to be addressed.

There's also a McD's within reasonable walking distance as well if you are into that kind of thing :D

I stay here now and again and was here about a month ago. Always ask for an outside facing room, even then the mobile reception remains patchy.

I would consider upgrading to a junior suite, yes it's mainly a larger room but worth it in my opinion. That said all the rooms are comfortable and warm looking. I would ask for a room overlooking the hotel car park for the best reception.

Food and drink I personally find a bit pricey but its an airport hotel so should be expected. An M&S simply food is about 5mins away across the road or is a 10min walk to the South terminal. The shuttle is also available for £4 per person each way.

Overall a good hotel with friendly staff - I never hesitate to recommend it and I'm back there later this month.

Thanks for the replies.
Good to know about the outward facing rooms. I have emailed the hotel to request one of those, not sure about the suite, it is only me travelling how much room do I need? Maybe I will try one next visit. Glad to hear about the McD's I miss the one in the terminal, I do like my junk food holiday treat lol :D .
Thanks again for your help.

How much room do you need?
What has need got to do with anything?
My next holiday trip we will spend one night at the Hyatt MCO.
I have signed up to their upgrade whereby if the Premier suit is free we pay an upgrade fee and have it. It has more space than my house and the extra is a tiny fraction of what it would cost. I don't really hold out much hope of getting it but if you don't try you have no chance.
What ever you get I hope you enjoy it.

Mariott just have been fined by fcc for blocking mobile hotspots in Nashville opryland resort illegally. I'm sure the won't have been blocking mobile signal as blocking in uk is illegal too

I've heard some good reviews of the Bloc and the runway view corner rooms look very nice indeed - will have to try it out :D
