Greetings from the Qantas lounge at T3 in SYD. This is the last leg of the domestic flights and we're off to Melbourne to see family and friends .
My New Years resolution ( for next year ): ) is to travel light ......excess fees here are prohibitive :0

Interesting you say that - we're coming down under next week, and I couldn't get over Qantas's 40Kg luggage limit. The excess they wanted to take our scuba gear was over A$3000

So we're experimenting with forward shipping through Baggage first. If anyone is interested I'll report back on whether it works or not, but at least the idea is attractive...

Welcome to Melbourne and thank you for bringing the better weather from tomorrow sunny and 27/33/35/31/30/31/34 finally summer is coming.

It has been grey, cool and positively yucky for January. My folks have been here for the last two weeks and if it hadn't been for the tennis to keep them amused (both at the Tennis and on TV) they would have been crawling up the walls.

Enjoy the last part of your trip.

Peter S - I wish you well :) . I lucked out today with an an absolute sweetheart agent who after much faffing and insistence of re -packing of bags by previous agents waived all fees and wished me bon voyage :) :) .
Hiljil - when we landed it was so cold and wet I thought we were back in Blighty.
HL - it is my resolution . Honestly ( :0 :0 but I have been known to break the odd one or two ....).
RobL - nice to see you again :) . Our friends have excitedly told us the same thing ( knowing we bring rain and freezing temperatures usually !).
Have been trying to book the Fat Duck but it's simply outrageous ( even if we could get a table !!!!!).
