Been flying flybe due to no other choice recently, but the question needs asking.

They seem quite unclear as to what electronics we can use on taxi and takeoff. The say portable electronics in flight safe mode, but laptops not. The distinction isn't there for:

Tablets: 10 and 8 or 7 inch.
Netbooks: 10 inch.
Kindles and e-readers: Usually about 7 inches nowadays right?

I'm usually on a netbook, but put it away on takeoff. I've seen Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7 inch version over here in Germany for 100 quid, so might go down that route for a change in in flight entertainment...

Basically if you can hold it in one hand like a tablet or kindle it's fine so it's just not laptops

Interesting. I guess the earphones are off the list though, right?

Or is that headphones...

It's strange such basic questions are quite unclear for someone who's been travelling a return once a week for 3 months...

Assuming flybe is the same as VS and BA, you can wear earphones & headphones from the moment you board to the moment you disembark.

You just have to remove them for the duration of the safety briefing.
