Is this a safety video or an advert for Hollister some such? I love the comment that it was intended to create awareness of destination..how about it was intended to promote..safety?

When it features an overwrought, slightly sweaty middle aged bloke wondering how to safely secure his laptop I'll pay attention. Until then it's irrelevant, not offbeat.

Nothing to apologise for NH.

The big problem with that video is that it's not situated on a plane so the context is skewed and the message isn't communicated properly.

Being fun and slightly odd is fine if your message is clear. This is poorly executed and filled with too much eye candy for anyone to pay attention to the safety messages! Bad choice ANZ.

Well I enjoyed it.
I don't think it needs to be on a plane to get the messages across. I thought it was a better demonstration of oxygen masks than cabin crew normally do. It put into context putting your own one on before helping others.
And it clearly shows what will happen to you if you smoke!

Not one of ANZ's better efforts IMO (although I thought the female surfers / models were rather nice!)

The Rugby World Cup & Hobbit safety videos were pure brilliance though - both "different" and filmed on a plane to keep it relevant.

One thing that does seem consistent on ANZ videos is the "flight safe mode bit" - they always seem to show Apple products here.

The biggest issue with any of these is getting people to actually pay attention and watch them..
I quite like the concept, it draws people's attention and gets some of the key messages across especially to people who would otherwise be ignoring it....

True, but perhaps a film with people being smashed against the ceiling when turbulence hits due to having had no seat belt on, being trapped in smoke and flame filled wreckage when they trip over somebody's bag would do trick more effectively...

And do we think that anybody is listening to the message rather than just ogling the bods in this one ?

There was one based on a Mike Leigh film? Excellent. I look forward to the "Abigail's Party" version.

I enjoyed it- I actually watched it to the end. That is an achievement in itself.

From what I see on the flights I am on, relatively few people pay any attention to the DULL safety videos and demos anyway. If this increases attention by even 10% it has been a success. It got the message across I thought.

Loved Sir Hollywood- he is adorable and the best looking of all the video participants

I do think calling emergency oxygen delivery at 35.000 feet in a decompression scenario as having some "fresh air" to be the understatement of the century however!

Exactly ! I forgot partway thru what it was about and decided that perhaps I would learn to surf after all !

The poor lifevest guy is quite cute, shame he got hit on by the Overly Attached Girlfriend and had to do the Ice Bucket Challenge!!

Interestingly, I know that Willie Walsh challenged Richard Anderson of Delta to do the Ice Bucket Challenge (after saying that he was challenging Richard, who was in control of his rival Virgin Atlantic rather tongue in cheek everyone assuming he would mean SRB, but then revealed it to be Mr Anderson) but I never actually saw him do it?
