Barbados - Seaweed problems

Hi, we are due to visit Barbados at the start of September and have been reading the horror stories about the seaweed problems they are having. Seems to be completely swamping the beaches around the south and east of the Island with very unpleasant consequences in terms of foul smells and swarms of sand flies. We will be staying at Turtle Beach - does anybody know how badly this hotel is affected? Does it prevent swimming etc.
Many thanks,
D.

There's a video on Utube. Doesn't seem too bad.

Thanks Dick. Looks very dark and brown rather than the usual blue, but at least the beach doesn't look too bad.

From what I have seen on a FB page devoted to the problem and on TripAdvisor, some beaches on the south coast have been worse affected than others. I saw a picture recently of Dover beach and that was clear, others like Miami have been terribly hit.
If the beach at your hotel is bad, then I would suggest posting on TripAdvisor Barbados forum to ask if anyone knows beaches that are clear.
There was some weed when I was out there last in May, but nowhere near as bad as it has been since then. It was a case of hopping on a bus or walking to another beach to avoid the weed if your nearest beach was affected. The situation on my beach did vary from day to day.
