Thought this might be interesting. First time I’ve seen a proper explanation of the strategy for how the terminals will expand and operate.

Basically T5 gets two new concourses an X to the West and and an X North parallel to the new runway.

1 and 3 and Demolished and 2 is expanded with the main building almost expanding by 60% and another satellite.

I do wonder how it will affect the airlines?

I can see T5 becoming a OneWorld hub, as the expanded capacity surely would mean it would need to take more than BA? Cathay, Qantas, American, Finnair and Qatar et al could all live very comfortably in there and presumably Aer Lingus too?

Question mark over what would happen to VS/DL. T2 has always been a “StarAlliance” terminal, but would they want to move into T4 with their AF/KL SkyTeam stablemates, or take a more glitzy stance in the newly expanded T2 with their FlyBe subsidiary?

Lots to speculate on!
