Hi,
We are planning a short trip to Vancouver next March and wondered if anybody has any hotel recommendations. Looking for something not too expensive for a family of four. Never been to Vancouver before and we won’t have a car so somewhere that would allow us to explore for a few days would be ideal.
Regards.
David.

We stayed at the Westin Bay Shore a couple of years ago & found the hotel very good, good position for exploring the city.

Stayed in many hotels years ago but now we rent an apartment and have stayed in most areas of Downtown. If you keep to Downtown and don't go East of the steam clock in Gastown you will be in a good location. Vancouver is a most walkable city and the creekside ferries and the Skytrain will connect you to most places you may want to go to if not hiring a car. Even staying in the Olympic Village area has its benefits - great views of Downtown, easy walking to Granville Market, the creekside ferries, nice coffee shops/restaurants - but I wouldn't stay south of W Broadway keeping within Granville St to the west and Cambie to the East.

If you are renting a car definitely drive the Sea To Sky Highway up to Whistler and the sea walk at Ambleside is a good stroll - again with views of Downtown.

Many thanks. That gives us a few pointers to go on.
