Virgin FlyingClub Mastercard - Seperate Branding

PostPosted: 01 Mar 2004, 21:06

Hi,

Several people have said that they think that Virgin should have a totally seperate brand identity for the FlyingClub version of it's MBNA credit card.

I was messing around in Photoshop earlier and have thrown together some mock-ups of possible design routes Virgin could go down.

Take a look at what I've put together:

Design 1:

Design 2:

Design 3:

Design 4:

Let me know what you think. If anyone else wants to try their hand at designing alternatives, go for it! Let's get together a little gallery of designs so that those Virgin Atlantic forum surfers can get a little inspiration :)

cool - nice work :D

the second one is my fav.

I have always said there should be some reference on to VS or FC on this version of the card ;) ;)

Nice one TJ.

My vote goes to number 3, it would be even better if you added the FC logo to the top of it.

#3 then #2 but as Nick says, it needs the FC logo just to finish it off! Well done TJ. [8D]

Hi,

Here are two more takes on the 3rd design, this time with the FlyingClub logo:

Hi TJ,

Thanks for that but the two pictures look identical , unlike the versions above ( V 2 with the close up of the tail section)

Hi,

They are effectively the same. Several people said they liked design 3, but would have preferred the FlyingClub logo to be on it somewhere.

The two new designs are Design 3, but one with the FC logo in the red section and one with the FC logo above the 747 picture.

I'm thinking of some different designs also, so bear with me ;)

I wonder if anyone actually from FC has had a look yet... :D

Hi TJ,

Sorry!! Please accept my apologies.[:I]

I misread your post and thought it was one of version 2 and one of version 3 and not two separate version 3's.

Sorry again.

This is a really great effort.[8D]

My vote goes to Design 2, closely followed by Design 3 V2.

I too hope that "the powers that be" are taking a close interest - With the branding that has been suggested I would sign up tomorrow if I could

Hi,

Those are not bad ( maybe a little too close on the tailwork), but I prefer design 3 Version 2.

I have to say that I quite like Design 7 :)

It has the Virgin brand stamped on it in a big way (but as it uses the tail of a VS plane, it's the brand from the Virgin Atlantic perspective) and has blue skies with the FlyingClub logo symbolising the freedom of flight with Virgin that FC provides.

Sorry, getting all idealistic ;)

I've got different concepts behind each design etc.

Yeah I like design 7 also.

That 'other' airline have their logo on their version of the Amex card.

I know when I pay for upgrades using the card it always gets a smile - never a discount though!!!! hehe Oh Well :D

I very much like (in order of preference):

Shame about the silver chip getting in the way isn't it?

Cheers

Nick,

Sorry about #5, I see what you mean! Didn't realise how 'BA-like' it looks until you pointed it out!

I emailed both VS and Virgin Money asking about this and received the following response today:

Dear James,

Thank you for your email which was forwarded to our Marketing manager.

She has advised that we are looking into branding the flying club logo on future cards issued in the third quarter of the year in 2004 - so watch this space!

Please contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

So as it says - watch this space!!!

I also e-mailed FC about this, pointing them towards this thread and got the following responce:

Dear Tim,

Thank you for your recent email.

Your designs are fantastic! I have forwarded them onto our Marketing department for their perusal.

We have received many requests for branding the Virgin Credit cards with the flying club logo and I can confirm that this will certainly be happening, hopefully by the end of this year - so watch this space!

Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.

Kind Regards,

So it looks as though they have been paying attention to the growing support for the seperate branding :)

FC are doing their usual fab job of listening to their members :)

How about one with a Airbus 380 in Virgin logo? or perhaps the Flight Attendants [}:)]
