circus circus hotel does not bring classy restaurant to mind . but believe me there is a restaurant here called " the steak house "
very smart inside and service was 5* . reservations required . now to the steak . they age their meat by hanging and smoking it for 28 days . my fillet was so soft i could actually cut it with my soup spoon ! delicious
the price was about $55 a head for soup and steak and one beer . very reasonable indeed . if you like steak go here , you wont be dissapointed !!!!!!

Thanks for the tip John [y]
Personally, I like
Craftsteak in the MGM Grand - but it's not quite the same value as $55 all-in!

Yes the steak house is good, though over the last couple of years it has slipped a little.

I have to say IMHO the best steakhouses around the US are Ruth's Chris. There are two in Vegas, not been to either, but I have been to them based in Orlando, Parsippany, New York and they are superb.
Quite expensive, but worth every penny, remember not to over order on the potato front. Try the steak fries (an omaha potato cut into 4 and deep fried)
See here for details

Paul,
I couldn't agree more. I prefer independent restaurants, I like places that do things a bit differently..I like places off the beaten track...there is no way I should like Ruth's Chris......and then I bite into one of their steaks and I can't help but love'em

The problem I have with Roth's is that it gets to the table on a hot plate,so the steak is still being cooked,I like my steak medium rare,by the time im done eating its medium at best.
For s steak thats just as good, with better service and way better prices try The Charcoal Room ay Sante Fe Station, amazing meals at a good price.
Also as I noted elsewhere in this forum the Montana steak company has great steaks for very good prices (note:the rack of lamb there is the best anywhere period)also and this is a place that most would never go to,but jerrys nugget has very good steak and prime rib, though the area of town it's in is best avoided.

I realise the original thread was months ago but anyway....
IMHO the best steak in Vegas is from Smith & Wollensky, on the strip between the MGM & Aladdin on the same side of the street.
It`s a big green and white building, you can`t miss it, steaks are mouth watering, in fact i`m making a mess at my desk while i type. [:I]
Made a point of going at least once per trip to Vegas, the Cajun Rib Eye is fantastic and the size of the steaks and sides are incredible.
Can get very busy so make sure you book ahead and don`t fill up on starters either.
There is great waiter there, don`t know his name but if you go and get the real "New Yorker" waiter it`ll be the same guy we had each time wev`e been there. He`s a really good, knows his stuff and likes to make you feel like you`ve had a good time, always gets a good tip from us.
They also have Smith & Wollensky in New York, i think that`s the original one.

Dave,
If the local people eat there, it's probably not only a great value, but a great taste as well.

Did an S&W at Dupont Circle on my last IAD jaunt. Pleasant enough but I did have the seafood platter

. The steaks all looked air aged so should have been good.

Slightly off the subject:
Went to Ruths Chris in Manhattan, not overly impressed.
Food was lovely but the service wasn`t up to much
Had to ask the waiter / busboy to clear the table as they brought out the steaks before clearing any starters away. When you`ve got super hot plates and sizzling steaks you don`t really want to have manouveur round the remains of your starters.
Wine waiter kept taking the bottle away and only appeared sporadically to top the glasses up, and it` wasn`t even busy at the time.
food was excellent though.

For quality over quantity, try a fillet steak at the Voodoo Lounge restaurant in the Rio. Afterwards, you can have a drink (or twelve) in the bar upstairs. Highly recommend it.

Having tried them both, I would put Prime in Bellagio ahead of CraftSteak at the MGM. Better service and better beef!

Well I suppose I had better start making some posts instead of just being a serial lurker...
I've been to Ruth's Chris in LV, and their steak is amazing - something to do with the fact that they grill/fry/whatever they do to it in butter. I enjoyed a huge porterhouse and it tasted amazing... can understand this is probably only a good way of serving if you like medium-rare or stronger....
I've also took two of my friends to Ballys Steakhouse as I had loads of comps to use up. We all enjoyed some good steak there and the price wasn't bad at all...
