Promising to beat the bucket fares of other airlines always, not just for X number of seats on a flight.

Hmm... Far from a "done deal" just yet:

Q. Why hasn't MAXjet announced its routes or start date?

MAXjet is completing certification and will announce its fares, routes, and start date when it has received all authorities required. International service is more complex than domestic; while MAXjet has applied for and received permission to operate transatlantic routes, it still must make its permissions effective. Because this requires approvals from regulatory agencies, MAXjet will be starting this Fall.

Well Max has started flying charters. They have been flying out of JFK in New York and already have a Boeing 767.

The aircraft is a Washington Dulles often too. go to washingtonpost.com and do a search. there have been a few articles.

And they say they will offer a two class service transatlantic ... be interesting to see exactly what the detail is and how it shapes as competition.

I wont hold my breath after the FlyBlu/FlyWho ongoing delays!:D
As routes are yet to be determined it may/may not be useful!!
I think with these things its better to wait for the actual service to start!!

MAXjet Airways Completes FAA Certification

DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2005--Today MAXjet Airways, Inc.
("MAXjet") received effective authority from the Department of
Transportation ("DOT") to commence scheduled international passenger
service.

Lawrence Fields, FAA Regional Division Manager, presented MAXjet's Air
Carrier Certificate in person at MAXjet's Washington Dulles Headquarters on
August 12, 2005.

MAXjet plans to begin charter operations immediately. Scheduled passenger
service will begin later this year with flights initially planned between
New York's John F. Kennedy Airport and London's Stansted Airport; other
routes from east coast cities to London will follow.

Gary Rogliano, MAXjet's Chief Executive Officer, is "very proud of the
MAXjet team's efforts." He commended the FAA and the DOT for their
"excellent teamwork" in reaching the goal of MAXjet's certification.

The airline's informational Web site, http://www.maxjet.com, is now live.
The airline will soon announce scheduled routes, fares and schedules and
begin accepting passenger bookings.

MAXjet is based at Washington Dulles Airport with operational facilities at
both New York's JFK Airport and London's Stansted Airport. MAXjet operates
Boeing 767 aircraft.

Ok - Hear is my thinking.

In the USA Southwest Airlines is a huge LCC. They have a huge hub (major traffic center) at BWI. So a traveler could book a ticket to BWI then connect with the MaxJet flight.

When they arrive at STN they could use one of the many LCC there to go to Europe. Also they could go to IOM (Isle of Mann) as there are no flights LHR-IOM.

MaxJet will be the LCC link.

They operated a couple of proving flights into STN from JFK last month but I havn't heard the start up date confirmed around the airport yet.

Makes sense to put a long haul LCC in with all the other LCC's that flock to STN. We'll have an even more eclectic mix of the world's populace in the terminal!!

Kind of on subject,the rumor mill is going into overtime about Jet Blue starting transatlantic this coming spring(i'll find the forum I was on and post it)though to me you would lose part of the Jet Blue charm with having no SAT Tv.

I can't even get onto the site, either 404 error or it times out. Still I suppose VS website can be as bad on occasions

I wonder if this is the same as EOS airlines - they had a similar biz plan it would seem (but were due to fly 757 rather than 767)?

looking further at the web site.....

seating appears to be a 2-2-2 config, so some seats do not have aisle access, and it is not clear if seats convert to beds or not (probably not)

3 x food options, and "option" of a snack prior to arrival, does not look as versatile as Upper Class - although quality will surely be better ;);)

the IFE is this which would appear to sit on your table - so I wouldnt expect to eat and watch a movie at the same time.

Well they are new. They are not the same as EOS. EOS will fly multiple 757s and MaxJet will fly one 767 then 757s later on.

Richard28: DigiPlayers. Hmmm, well I know of another Washington Dulles based carrier that uses them. They have battery problems and our fee for uses gets refunded a lot.

Oh yet - I would out all of these changes in the 20SEPT2005 USA (Washington DC) edition of the Wall Street Edition.
