Well, it has its own web site, quite good. it seems due to the loss of Flt 815 the company has gone bust

http://www.oceanic-airlines.com/

"Book flight" is quite good, see if you can find where the cast were supposidly sitting

This message from the Airline President is now on the site:

We regret to announce that Oceanic Airlines has ceased all operations effective immediately.

Michael Orteig, President of Oceanic Airlines, released this statement: "After 25 years of service, we are forced to close our doors. Due to financial difficulties in the wake of the Flight 815 tragedy, we are no longer able to sustain service. We are deeply sorry that we can no longer serve our loyal customers, and apologize for any inconvenience our decision will cause."

Passengers of Oceanic Airlines are encouraged to contact their travel agent or one of Oceanic's airline partners to make alternate travel arrangements.

So that confirms you thoughts Alan. Agree the seat booking feature did look pretty good.

The name 'Oceanic Airlines' has been used a number of times before in films- of which my sieve is escaping me.

And strangely, its an anagram of Cocaine too....

Thanks,
Richard

Oceanic Airlines appears in the TV Series 'Alias', and as its made by ABC (who also make 'Lost') i do wonder how coincidental that is.

An airline of the same name also features in the 1996 film 'Panic in the Skies'

If anybody does start an 'Oceanic Airlines' i think its going to be Jinxed from day one ;)

Indeed. It was used in Executive decision with Kurt Russel and Halle Berry...

If you go to airliners.net and in the search field type "executive decision", it will come up with the picture of a cargo aircraft painted in the oceananic colours with the big hole in the side! And get this; ironically, the same aircraft was involved in a real hijack several years prior to the film.

wow,I din't think there was a real airline by that name, after all if there is an airline movie with someone plotting to blow up a plane it was done on Oceanic...could not of been good pr for them.

oh hell don't I feel stupid [B)]...the wife just pointed out that im an idiot who should spend more time watching TV and less time on here..I looked at the "lost" title again and it clicked.

edit:due to the fact that I dont spend my life in front of a TV

Something weird with that site:

Has anyone else noticed some strange text hidden underneath the statement that Bazz posted?

If you select all, and copy, from that yellow headed section of the site - you'll get this when you paste it into Word:

If anyone should find this message, please get word I'm alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they're getting worse...
Sally

I survived a horrific plane crash and am stranded on an island somewhere Northeast of Australia and Southwest of Hawaii. In the event that I am never found, please forward word of my fate to my parents.

[:0][?]

THIS image is also pasted with the text, but I've had to save it elsewhere as I can't find the original link outside of Word.

I genuinely hope I'm not going mad...

I will admit to getting a bit hooked to this show, and have now watched the entire first season. Trouble is, the second season doesn't start until late September in the US, and there are a lot of questions still unanswered!

Ah, the drama of it all...

Woh, nice find James. There's also a simlar thing for the remake of the Manchurian Candidate.

Edit: Creepy, go to Track your flight and click on the Track by flight number, then look carefully at flight number 572.

Another one for ya, although this may mean more to those who have seen season one.

The numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 are fairly important. Try clicking the seat row numbers in that order. You'll get a trailer for season 2, plus a whole new website. It doesn't give away too much except in the 'Theory' message boards (thankfully), so not really a spoiler - although I haven't fully explored the new site yet.

BTW, anyone else notice the similarities between Lost and the classic games Myst/Riven, etc? Everything happens for a reason...

Pete

On the seat page, click on the falshing "F" and then on the seat which comes up green. You get a trailer

Plus somehow I got a picture of what looked like a DAC3 where the plane is at the bottom when I clicked on the red kate seat

By randomly clicking, I have found the secret behind each of the survivor's seats, each of them makes something else happen. Like the plane, the bottle of Russian vodka, the plane crashing, the wedding ring, the passport, the police marshall card, the convict pictures, etc.

Hehe..

I would like to inform my financial institutions that I will be late making my September mortgage payment as I am STRANDED ON A FRIGGIN' ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!
Please have the Government send a search team immediately. OR don't. Shouldn't all the taxes I pay cover an expense like that?
