I got Gold from my Amex Plat but it only lasts a year, although Ive stayed in places enough with them to have earnt it this time around. I keep thinking I should maybe consider my options and try out Starwoods more as the Westins etc that I have stayed at so far have all been very good.

Which Hilton are you staying at in Brighton? Metropole or West Peir?

Glad you said that. Ive walked out of the West Peir before, its utterly horrendous and makes most travel inns look like luxury. I then wrote to complain about it to Hilton and they said "we are aware of the condition of the hotel and are reviewing it". In announcement they made not so long ago they said that it was going to be sold off, thankfully! ;)

So thats another HH Gold at the party next week - should be interesting to see how they deal with it. Last time I was there they really were clueless about the whole HHonors program and the benefits.

So thats me and Decker with Diamond status trying to get good rooms, and then Pix and the masses with Gold status.... :)

Thanks,
Richard

Funny you should say that, Mrs F said a HH Gold card popped through the letter box yesterday.

Both BA and VS are running big promos at the moment.

It seems that, if you're a member of either program and have stayed at a Hilton at any point this year, they're comping you to gold... [:(!][:0]

Didn't the West Pier used to be the Bedford? I remember that being built in the early sixties and it was quite the place to go when it opened. Shame if it's gone to rack and ruin.

There are numerous reports of gold comps on the FT BA board today. As LROM says, quite how the Metropole or any other Hilton is going to satisfy room upgrade expectations when Gold status is becoming so widespread, remains to be seen.

I haven't stayed at a Hilton in recent years but this morning received a pack from BA Executive Club saying that I've been awarded Hilton VIP Gold, along with membership card. Not sure if BA are doing this with everyone in Exec Club or just silver/gold (I'm silver)?

Nope, it's across all levels - Blues are receiving the packs, too.

We stayed at the Metropole in July for my birthday.

I'm Gold but there is no Exec Lounge, was allocated an upgraded room on the 4th floor but with a view of the rooms across the othe side of the hotel, It is sort of an H shape. Rang down to reception asked nicely that as it was my birtday any chance of a sea view. Click click click on the keyboard, and was given I think 405 a massive corner room on the front:D

The hotel itself is obviously quite old with really high ceilings, dining room is on a spilt level with sea views, bar quite expensive[:0].I prefer modern such as Cardiff, but for a night it is OK,

Will be at the LGW Hilton on Saturday prior to HAV departure sunday morning.[8D]

Regards

Paul
