vegas limo advice

hi guys, having spent several weeks lurking on the site, thought it was about time I contributed something, or at least asked a question.
6 of us are heading out to LAX on Sunday, then over to LAS on Wednesday. We were planning on getting a limo from the airport to Mandalay Bay where we are staying, so I checked out a few of the limo hire companies I found on one of the other threads here.
The idea was to get picked up and do a tour up and down the strip before getting dropped off at the hotel, probably taking about an hour. However I noted on one of the sites (bell-trans.com) that the hire time does not start when you are picked up, but at the flight arrival time. So does this mean that if it takes you 45 mins to get through arrivals and into the car, that you only get a 15 minute drive for your hours worth of dollars? And do all limo hire companies operate the same way?
And I suppose the obvious follow-up question is how long does it typically take to get through arrivals at LAX?
Do you Vegas veterans think this is a good way to tour the strip, or would we be better just getting a cab to the hotel, and hiring a limo to pick us up from there. 3 of our crew are vegas first-timers, so would like to do this quite early in the trip, to give them a feel of the place.
any thoughts/comments much appreciated
cheers
Ian
