So to the return flight...

They say bad news comes in 3 - glad it didn't this flight..

On VH holiday (Escape at Prospect Bay - seperate story!) and we had limousine to airport (unexpected) rather than normal bus (was Z). Very nice!

Check in, Chill Out very good as normal - arrival at airport was 1.30 before take off so ignored Clipper Lounge and did a spot of shopping instead.

Boarding announcement was for kids, ill folk etc etc. Nothing for UCS or PE passengers until we sussed a line was for UCS/PE - but no announcement...

ETD was 18.25 and at 18.00 ish we left stand - great - with 7.30 journey!! Possibly 05.30 - 06.00 into LGW. Then first sign of trouble (Virginia Plain) prior to joining runway, Captain announced 'flickering' indicator light on RH engine. Engineer called and 30 mins later on our way to take off. Then... Captain on again ... bad news... light on again... Back to stand for engineer.....

Eventually 21.50 we took off (though tug pushing us out at 21.30 sheared a pin - hell of a bang... thinking bad news comes in 3's... but take off was OK...)

Arrival was 09.20 into LGW vs 06.25 planned. Three hours on plane prior to take off - excellent in UCS - Laurent Perrier champagne, nibbles etc etc. Order taken for meal so that within 1 hour of take off all wined and dined ready for sleep. Woken at 08.15 for brekkie, off plane - luggage there when we got to reclaim and 120 miles later, back home at 11.45!

Seriously considering VS for future Mumbai flights - if UCS fitted...

Hi KenUK

Thanks for the TR and glad the actual flight was less problematic than the pre T/O.

Seems a common things in the caribbean islands that no UC pre boarding message is announced. That's 3 islands I have been on now and same thing at each one.

Iain

Are you going to tell us about Escape at Prospect? I was there 4 weeks ago so I'm interested to know how crap you thought it was? (or not perhaps???)

Regards

John

Oh don't get me started on that place, I mean when you first get to the hotel it looks soooo bad. It looks like a small youth hostel and it's right on a really busy road, gets your hopes down immediately.

Can you recall what was on the menu[?][?] Just interetsed as I will shortly be taking a LGW flight and am wondering if it is the same menu as LHR.

Many thanks

The Menu[y]

DINNER

Starters

Seasonal Leaf Salad with marinated blackened chicken, roasted peppers, pumpkin and citrus vinaigrette. (I enjoyed - and a similar starter in BA Club regularly too).

Mulligatawny soup with coconut cream served with a selection of warm breads. (My wife enjoyed this).

Main Courses

Grilled dorado fish served with lime wild rice, and mago & papaya salsa. (C'mon Virgin[:)], I've just spent 2 weeks in the Caribbean eating this!!)

Toad in the hole served with mustard mashed potato, carrots, peas and onion gravy. (Toad in the hole is NOT good aircraft food... useless Yorkshire Pud!) We both had this.

Stuffed red pepper served with mixed grilled vegetables and chunky tomato sauce.

Cheese

These were Gorgonzola, Brie and Cheddar

Dessert

Warm chocolate pudding filled with raspberries and served with white chocolate sauce.

Rum and raisin ice cream on its own or with chocolate wafers.

I'll skip breakfast menu (usual suspects) and move, quite rightly, to the drink[|)]

Champagne was Laurent Perrier Brut (nice)

Sparkling Wine was Prosecco di Valdobbiadene

White Wines:

Berrys own White Burgundy
Domaine de Cessane Marsanne/Viognier 2004
Santa Celina Pinot Gris 2005

Red Wines

Berrys own Australian Shiraz 2004
Chateau Lucas 2002
Laderas El Seque 2004

Enjoy!!

Ken

Thanks for taking the time to post the menu[y][y]

(Toad in the hole is NOT good aircraft food... useless Yorkshire Pud!)

I would be inclined to agree[;)] - Yorkshire pudding is one of those dishes that no -one ever quite makes as nice as your mum did when you were a child[:w]

thanks once again
