Wow, what can I say. After over 40 odd flights with Virgin, the last 10 being in U/C, I can honestly state that if this is now the standard service that we will get - it cannot be beaten. [y]

Apart from the lack of a clubhouse at Manchester, which I will not go into for obvious reasons [:w], I have never been on a flight where we were literally looked after from the minute we stepped on until the minute we departed.

The crew were magnificent, infact the FSM (the one in the black shirt [?]) must have been in the front cabin for 70% of the flight along with at least one if not two members of the crew.

I couldn't begin to count how many times I was asked if 'everything was all right', 'would you like anything to drink?', 'can I get you anything else?'

The food was superb. Maybe they have been listening and have taken the hint that rather than try and provide something with a name that sounds as thought it has taken 20 people to make up, they have stuck with reasonable plain dishes, but dishes which are very, very eatable.

I had the soup, which still amazes me that you can have soup at 36000 feet [;)], the chicken tika, which was pretty damn good - the rice was just right and the chicken perfect, missed out the cheese and then the dessert which was ice cream with a 'giant chocolate button', which was a perfect ending.

Even the amenity kit is getting better, although anything was better than a cardboard envelope.

Now, if only we could get V-Port ...........

Full marks all round. [y][y]

Thanks for the report.
Now I'm even more determined to go UC next time I fly. I hope they maintain the level of service you experienced.

Interesting to read what you had to eat on the flight - I am flying out on Monday and the website is showing the British Winter Menu - no mention of Chicken Tikka etc. etc.

Good to read that the service is on the up, I have four UC flights booked MAN - MCO despite my previous comments/reports in 2006.

Lets see what Monday brings!

Cheers for the TR David.
We're hoping to go out to MCO in Upper later this year (infact it will be my first VS flight from MAN) so its good news to know you had a good flight.

Whilst I'm sure the CH at LGW is fine, I'm not adding an extra 4 hours either way to experience it. Upper class is nice in just Zone A, last time I did that I found the service great [y]

cheers!

Dean

You've only made the waiting for my maiden UC flight in October more gruelling! Can't wait - any pics?

Great TR - I've done this flight to and can only re-itterate what David has said - the crew out of Manchester seem to be excellent.

I hope you're right, we've done this route a few times (only 2 returns in Upper though) and generally found them dreadful, we're trying again in May though and it's the last chance saloon for VS with us from MAN. Trouble is I have even higher expectations after experiencing Upper to & from LHR recently.

Dont know when you last flew UC in or out of MAN but as of around August last year the MAN crew were all based from Manchester so that they could become a better team - I thought the FSM's and crew on both outward and inbound were excellent - so hope you experience the same. [y]

Good to read another good TR from someone flying a MAN route in Upper. Like the OP, I had no issues whatsoever with the crew on my UC trip last November - they really were excellent.

Whilst the UC crew were very good, my friend flew on the later flight to Orlando on the same day in Y. He did not rate the crew down the back too highly. One drinks run pre-lunch, one drink with lunch & one water / juice run - that was your lot for a 9hour flight. Sure, you could go and ask for more, but why did the crew not make additional drink runs [even if only water / juice ones to keep people hydrated] - was it to make their lives easier, or to save money (as pax will invariably accept a drink if offered one)?

Your TR described what seemed an excellent flight. Good to hear that the service was consistant throughout the journey....[:D]
