Just a quick note on the flight back from the US on Saturday.

Once again, check-in was a breeze. We were very early to the airport in spite of a morning trip to the Everglades after we got off the ship in Miami, so there was no-one in the UC queue. The Club America lounge is well described by Nottingham Nick in another thread and it proved to be a comfortable spot to listen to the iPod for a few hours and have a couple of glasses of wine and a few biscuits. Nothing more on offer for food. We were escorted through security and the priority boarding was in full swing when we arrived. I really can't get too hung up about getting on the plane first, but it worked very well here and we were on the flight before you could say amenity pack.

We were in 4K and 5K and I like these seats on the Airbus. They were both in good shape and worked fine. Sorry I didn't note the plane we were on. I'll have to take a look at the flight histories for this and the outbound flight where my fave 9K on the 747 wasn't working.

The ginger and carrot soup was good although the Terriyaki chicken was high in salt content and I left most of the sauce. Warm apple pie and cream finished off, it was time for a once or twice around the cabin and then to bed. I slept pretty well and woke up from a nasty dream about a sinking ship (I guess as a result of the trip and seeing photos of the ship sinking at Santorini) at 7am in time for a bacon roll and a cup of coffee. It was just early enough to beat the rush to the toilet to change back from the comfy sleep suit. It seems a bit more nylon in material now and I prefer it to the previous. Yes, I did take it home with me[;)]

I watched a couple of episodes of Extras that always make me smile. I tried to listen to the audio (talking books in particular), but it didn't seem to be working so went to sleep without it.

My friend who journeyed with me came out to Miami in Economy and it was her first time in Upper going back and she loved it. We ate dinner together and had a very nice glass or two of South African Sauvignon Blanc. I'm into SA and NZ white at the moment. Light in character and easy on the palate, much like me[:o)] I suspect another convert to turning left, but she said she really enjoyed the flight out too and the crew were great then also.

Next up will be New York in September. It's going to seem a long wait.

Phil,
Thank you for an excellent report. Sounds as though the trip went along very smoothly and you caught some good sleep as well.

Hope to finally meet you at the Riverboat Social this summer.

Regards,
Chuck-
