Checked in at Upper Class desk, the service was friendly and very helpful, she advised me my carry on might not be accepted at the Fast Track as it was right on the size limit.

No problems in Fast Track, just walked past the shoe scanner and into the lounge where I had my shoes shined. Waitress service was slow, but free wifi access greatly appreciated.

I went to the gate upon the first call in the lounge and to my surprise, walked straight on the plane, no waiting at all on the jetway.

Pushed back on time, despite many empty seats, this was because the airport was busy and ATC did not want the plane to leave the stand before it's scheduled time.

Crew were very helpful, service was good, they forgot the hot towels, so i asked for one during lunch, and was served one. Also had to ask for the in seat power to be turned on.

Food was OK. See my return journey for the food issue on the return.

Arrived into IAD on time ish, to find the immigration hall completely empty, and got through in record time. My bag was one of the ones in the priority bin this time, so collected it and headed to my United flight, which for the first time, I had to wait to board, rather than go running on board.

A typically good Virgin experience.
