we checked in using twilight checkin and from there on it was all down hill.
all i can say is 'get BAA the F*** out of Gatwick' as it is a joke there.
-there was a massive queue for security going half way round the airport and up a flight of stairs where it became a free 4 all and 1 queue moved considerably faster than the other so it was pot luck if you took the fast one or not, as for the service from Frankie & Bennies - well we walked out with the waiter chasing us for the bill asking why we hadn't paid - our reply was we asked for it 15 minutes ago and can't be a55ed to wait any longer!!!!
back to VS43
why oh why can't VS sort out the LGW fleet? sitting on a plane for 10 hours plus with the sort of 'entertainment' system they have can drive anyone to murder. 6 films, no choice, no control.
as for the food what pure sh***!!!
the view was lovely but even Virgin would be hard pushed to b***er that up.
I've already made a post about Virgins attitude to alcohol aboard this flight - but needless to say it is totally irresponsible.
Oh well at least we had a whole overhead allocated to our 2 seats!!!
Unfortunatly VS have a monopoly on this route and I can't see it improving anytime soon [:#]

Not the most balanced trip report I've ever seen! However BAA airports are definately not the best!

Oh dear.

I didn't know overheads were allocated to seats - must have passed me by on the odd flight I take [:?].

I always thought that overhead locker space was first come first served [:w]

Me too! There are other ways to get to LAS if you are not a VS fan and want to avoid LGW.....would mean changing planes en route, but you might find it better for the future. I know that BMI no longer do the MAN-LAS route, but do any of the 'package' airlines such as Thomas Cook still do this route?

I agree with you, if anyone desperately wants to avoid LGW, then take a flight to say NYC or ORD and get a connecting flight. It just adds another 2+ hours on to your journey.

in an ideal world where the connection happens perfectly maybe.

my wife did the indirect option a few years ago (when she won her holiday!) and vowed never to do it again - i think she spent 6 hours in some Texan airport [V]

so did I BUT if there is not a proper amount of it you get a complete shambles by the small locker at the back where everyone ends up storing there stuff.

..and if you remember most of us are not frequent flyers jsut people who travel in my case twice a year - we like to use our allocated carry on luggage allowance which if VS stick with then they hould make sure they provide enough space to easily access it or be stricter atleast on mkaing people stick to their allowance and not go over.

i've also noticed that 'upper' have been given a raised carry on allowance so space/weight can't be that much of an issue to VS managment.

I know I am a whinging sod but quite frankly spending a grand or 2 per flight in this day and age is a lot of money and I think I have full justification if my expectations aren't met!!!! [:p][B)][}:)]
