After a fabulous weekend in Boston, it was time to head home.

Everything about the trip was spot on, the hotel (Renaissance Waterfront) was very good and we got a concierge level upgrade. We got great tickets for the Red Sox / Yankees game at face value, and the Sox won! What a night that was! (in fact the Sox swept the Yankees in all three games on the days we were there deep joy!). We dined at Redbones on the recommendation of roadrunner, this was also very good (see review in hotel and dining section of V-Flyer). To cap it all, the weather was brilliant all three days in the 80s!

We picked up our bags from the hotel, then got the Silver Line T for a not so quick tour of the Logan Terminals before being dropped off at Terminal E. There was a couple in front of us at Security and they were offered a PE upgrade for $217 each (they declined). We went to the UC check-in and 28 A and C were freed up for us. Security was a breeze, even though for some reason they decided to x-ray Christophers bag twice it was all very relaxed and friendly. Once airside, we made our way to the Clubhouse.

This was my first visit to the new facility. The drink and food selection are very good not as much food as some other Clubhouses, but a nice selection of deli meats, cheeses and salads plus Clam Chowder.

We had drink and I had a Clam Chowder- which was very good. Christopher went for a wander and I surfed, thanks to free wi-fi, and drank only one Sam Adams though, as I have to drive in 7 hours or so. The UK Sunday papers soon arrived for the inbound. Christopher also had a Clam Chowder and a nice piece of chocolate cake with fresh berries.

I have to say I was very impressed with all the staff in the Clubhouse very attentive for both drinks and food, and lightening fast at clearing away empty plates / drinks. The only slight downside was that several of the tables along the back wall were out of bounds, as they arent happy with the safety of the tiles on the back wall. I was assured that this is VERY temporary, and should be fixed soon.

The gate is just up in the lift from the Clubhouse, and priority boarding was working perfectly. We went down the jetway and got our seats right next to the door. The plane is Lady Penelope and the Captain announced a very fast 5hrs 32 minutes flight time. Load a very light 173 + 18 crew (30UC / 40PE / 107E) and the plane is G-VFAB (Lady Penelope).

Push back was a little early at 7.40pm and we were wheels up just before 8pm into a very clear night sky, with great views of downtown Boston. Unfortunately, we headed up along the seaboard and didnt fly over the city, as the Red Sox last game against the Yankees would be underway. As soon as we levelled out, there was a drinks service and V-Port kicked up. I watched an old Doctor Who and Christopher watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which he said was excellent.

The meal choice was as follows: -

Salad

Mains

Cajun chicken breast with mashed sweet potato, corn, black beans and red peppers.

Beef bourguignon with pilaf rice, carrots and green beans.

Vegetable stir-fry with noodles and pad Thai rice.

Dessert

Sticky toffee cake with raspberry coulis

Cheese and Biscuits

White wine 2007 Marques de Caza Airen
Red wine 2007 Marques de Caza Tempranillio

I have the beef and Christopher had the chicken and neither disappointed. We both declined the wine and the after dinner brandy / Baileys. I have to say I was very impressed with this crew, from the FSM, through the whole team. From 28A you get a good look at the way the crew operates and, hats off from boarding until I fell asleep I was very impressed with them.

After we had eaten, I got my head down, and didnt stir until the cabin was being prepared for landing. We had made good time and we got great views of Central London as we came in. We landed around 7am. We were among the first off the plane and, although there were long queues at Immigration, we werent delayed too long, and our bags just appeared as we got into the busy baggage hall.

Another very, very good flight made better by an excellent crew, who were a credit to the airline.

It isn't long till my next flight and I hope for more of the same.

Hi Nick,

Nice TR, Boston is a great place, glad to hear the baseball was good. The loads were light when we were there last month.

I must check if the A's are playing this week.

Thanks for both reports, haven't gotten to Boston this year yet, the TRs made me want to go ... I should actually try and work a trip there in with a trip to Europe and try the new Clubhouse, all reports seem quite positive.

Nick

Appetite now well and truly wetted for a trip to Boston[y]

As a frequent visitor to Boston you must have experienced the previous shared lounge and to receive such a glowing report of this downstream facility is making it something I will be looking forward to (even if it does mean the end of a great weekend[:I])

To cap it all having a memorable crew must have made that drive back to Nottingham effortless

Enjoyed both TR's - I had forgotten how lovely Clam Chowder is when made properly. Glad the trip was such a success.
