I know its a long time ago so I will try to keep it short....

I arrived early at LGW as Mr Sunshine dropped me off on the way to work....6.45am for a 11.15am flight!!!! There was some sort of problem with checking in as they were rearranging the seats so I was asked to wait to one side until they were ready which I was happy to do. However while waiting I was verbally abused by two drunk men who began to upset me and I went back over to the Virgin check in for safety. [V] The men moved away and I was soon checking in for my flight as was a man in the PE line who then left to say goodbye to his two friends.....yes the rude drunk ones. I prayed he wasn't on my flight and went off to the sanctuary of the CH and a wonderful massage and glass of champs. Bliss.[:D] I am a big champion of the wonderful staff in the LGW CH who I am always pleased to see. Oh yes and the lovely Simon le Bon went in after me for a massage.

At the boarding gate...on time...I was nearly knocked off my feet by the same man at Check In who was rushing out of the Boarding area he just barged through everyone in his way.....oh no he's on my flight.[:0]

I settled in to my seat upstairs in PE with my glass of bubbles when you've guessed it the lovely fat, tatooed, sweaty guy who obviously finds abusive friends funny was sitting next to ME [:0]

He then proceeds to inform me, not realising that I had been clocking him since Check In that he had a throat infection and an upset stomach due to drinking whilst taking medication. HELP I went to the galley and asked if I could move seats but they said none were available.

So I had the journey from hell...with the guy getting sweatier and smellier the more times he went off to the toilets. I spent a lot of time standing up by the galley and was too frightened to go to sleep.[|)]

It was a shame as the flight took longer than usual due to strong winds. It felt like the longest day of my life. I have never got off a plane so fast and was through security and out in record time.

Sorry can't say much about the flight itself...but the crew were fine and food was the usual and I couldn't concentrate on a film.

Oh well a month of sunny days awaited me.......

Hell, as they say is other people.

And it only takes ONE other person to do it.

I remember on a flight from Lanzarote last year, the person benind me spent the whole flight emitting gas from both ends. He thought it really funny - blamed that 'Spanish beer'.

I blame lack of self control.

Sunshine

My advice is next time take a friend[:D][:D][:D]

Seriously, I suppose you knew it was going to happen given all the previous omens at Check In, but at least you had the sanctuary of the wonderful Gatwick Clubhouse for an all too brief time - pity you could not have transferred that bubble to the flight.

OMG! How awful. What an obnoxious, nasty piece of **** he sounded like. Ugggh.

I guess we all have our horror stories - I was once on a flight from Bangalore to Hyderabad and the man in front of reclined his seat, head flopping over the top, with the most terrible scalp problem ever with flakey head falling in my food and on my lap (just to help you take your mind of mr drunky sweaty)!

Sounds terrible. I've had a few flights like that, in one occassion the crew thought I was traveling with them, and that they would have moved me if I had asked.

I also had a very large and smelly person next to me, and they ended up moving him from Y into PE FOC.

My suggestion should you ever be in this position again, is to ask to speak to the FSM and outline all your concerns.

Hope you have a good month in the sun.

Mark
