V-Flyer

So our return journey back to the UK we were hoping would be far less eventful than the outbound... and it was! We arrived at Grantley Adams and checked in easily and went through to departures for a spot of shopping and a bite to eat. Soon enough there was a request for all Upper and PE customers to come forward to board... and thats where it went crazy! Suddenly loads of passengers went forward, and I think this is the problem with having so many Upper and PE Seats on one aircraft - a lot of the Upper pax were getting quite frustrated at the huge queue and I dont think they could believe there were so many of them and that they had to queue. One lady in her 70's refused to queue and wielded her handbag and Upper Class ticket and literally barged through the crowd to get to the front... quite amusing really.

Anyway, we got onboard and seated in our PE seats and the Cabin Crew were excellent, we got The Times and a glass of fizzy wine and relaxed whilst they completed boarding. As I looked out of my window the BA flight was departing which was a nice sight - it ended up departing about 20 mins or so before us.

The food onboard was excellent - Beef Stew and my friend travelling with me was a Beef Farmer and even he conceded that it was a damn fine piece of beef. After that I settled in for some shut eye and before I knew it we were waking up to breakfast. The cheese and egg mayo sarny is different but fills a hole, I certainly wouldnt want it every day but I was hungry and it filled me up at the time and was okay.

Once we landed (approx 40 mins early) the Captain told us that he was also pleased to advise that the BA Flight was still 7 miles away from landing... you could tell he was a bit of a kid which made everyone laugh on the flight.

All in all a good and uneventful flight.

Perhaps if you're used to 14 UC plus a few PE it's a bit of a shock and certainly won't feel as 'exclusive'. Is SRB to expect any more missives, do you think?

I wonder what it is makes us anxious to be seated early (and I'm the same, though have yet to adopt the barging tactic)? After all, as Frankie Boyle puts it, you're going to be spending long enough in a tin can full of strangers' f*rts.

Thanks for the TR[y] - You would have thought by now that the VS Groundstaff at BGI would have worked out that with so many UC seats, it would pay to stagger the boarding.

I'm the same and put my primeval instincts down to past experiences where others have blagged every available overhead stowage space before I get to my seat [:(!][}:)][:(!] (something more prone to the Americas I have found[:w])
