My first trip report and what a good experiance to start with.

As I wanted to take advantage of an Upper Class sale a for my seat and book reward seats for my two sons the only flight open for this combination was the VS09 departing at 16.50 with a scheduled arrival at JFK of 20.00. As I expected this would lead to a 22.00 arrival in Manhattan I was not keen but had no option. As it turned out this was probably the smoothest and easiest long haul trip I have ever experianced.

Saturday afternoon drive from Bath area was a breeze with very light traffic on the M4.
Took advantage of a special deal for Terminal 3 short term parking which was very smooth.
No queue at UC check so time from arriving at check to ordering first drink in Clubhouse was approx 20 minutes which included time to make purchases in duty free.
Clubhouse was quietest I have ever known it, maybe this is typical for a Saturday afternoon.
This was first flight I have taken since it has not been possible to pre-book treatments so had to have my traditional pre flight haircut the day before. Managed to book a massage on arrival in the lounge which was good.
All three of us enjoyed lunch and then adjournewd to the bar where the barman was good enough to tune one of the TV's into the Wales v Scotland rugby international. The same chap then did a great job of keeping my champagne glass continually topped up until our flight was called.
Priority bording was in place & went smoothly.
Lunch of Leek & Potatoe Soup, Sausage & Mash and Cheese and biscuits while not great was pertectly adequate.
Planned to visit the bar but on the couple of occasions I checked it out it was pretty crowded so I settled down to a few hours sleep.
Flight was quick & we arrived well ahead of schedule.
On arrival at Immigration there were absolutely no queues so we were soon through and collecting our baggagae and proceeded to the taxi rank where again there were no queues. Time from walking off aircraft to arriving in Manhattan hotel room 1 hour which was terrific.

All in all a smooth trip from home to hotel.

Hi, I was on the same flight as you although flying in PE. Glad you had a good flight.

Thank you for your inaugural TR[y]

As you say, sometimes it can be preferable to opt for a later flight to New York and your experience with Immigration in the US is a good enough reason for me[:D]

Thanks once again

Thanks for the TR. I think VS09 is good as long as you get to immigration before 745. A KLM flight deplanes slightly earlier than VS09 and then an I think Air Jamaica flight at about eight. The Air Jamaica one kills me as it can take an hour and a half to get through.
