I had to take 3 flights on LIAT to get me to Barbados on time for Virgin and to my relief all went well and on time. Check-in was easy and quick and I went straight up to the lounge where I was pleased to talk to one of the Bangladeshi cricket team who were all on their way back following their defeat. Boarding was civilized and service okay - but still not what it should be in the front of a plane. One female flight attendant was clearly uncomfortable serving at this level to the point that her nervousness spilled over into rudeness. And I still find it difficult to understand why you can't get a decent cup of coffee in Upper Class. What is so difficult about providing something this basic? The other notable thing about this flight was that I had a very good view of the Mdvipond family sitting at the front of the cabin! It was easy to recognise them with all the photos they post and I anxiously await their trip report because Mrs Mdvipond didn't look a very happy bunny!! Overall, it was a fairly good experience but returning to the Caribbean a couple of days ago I enjoyed far more professional service in Premium.

Thanks for the TR. I think I am noticing a trend of late amongst V-F Groupies, forget Z list spotting, we now have Tizer spotting! Sooner or later Mark will be dishing out Tizer Autographs on her behalf!!

I think this may be more to do with the good Mr Mdvipond than anything virgin did!

I think the good Mr Mdvipond alluded to this in his outbound trip report

Shame the same couldn't quite be said about the returning crew, but we'll have save that for another trip report...

Thank you for the TR - such a pity when you prefer the service further back in the plane?

Coffee is quite rightly a basic thing to get right and i too dont understand why no attention is bought to this detail.

I'm hoping to get my return TR s finished this week, when the reason/s for Mrs V's less than cheerful demeanor will be revealed...

Didn't realise we were travelling with a fellow V-Flyer - you should've made yourself known, so to speak. With two of us on board we really ought to have kept the VF end up and managed at least one snifter at the bar (rest assured, I did my part). If nothing else, we could have granted a brief audience with Tizer.

It must seem strange and it's occurred to me that during my last couple of trips in Upper Class I felt a bit like being in hospital with student doctors dealing with me! Of course they do need to get experience but at the price we pay, I don't enjoy getting iffy service. It's about style, confidence and professionalism but mostly about having staff who truly want to serve people. My recent experiences lacked these elements and it really lets down the entire product. I even sensed a degree of resentment from a couple of the crew this time. Being in the hospitality business, serving every working day of my life I have a pretty good idea of what is good service and what is not so good. Virgin need to dramatically re-think their cabin staff training if they are going to keep me as a regular customer in Upper Class.
