No more than 20 people there so fairly quiet. Thought we would have a cooked breakfast, so sat in the dining area. Chose bacon, poached egg on toast and mushrooms, coffee and a Bucks Fizz (as you do), whilst waiting, I popped down to book my treatment and for husband. No problems there. Breafast arrived within minutes of my sitting back down. Bacon very dry and rubbery, poached eggs over cooked, mushroom very greasy and the toast was ciabbata bread toasted, very hard to bite. Not a very good start. The coffee and Bucks Fizz were fine though. After that, we wandered over to the seating area by the windows. Ordered another BF and collected some newpapers and magazines to read. At 9.30 went off for my manicure, by 10.00 had another BF, also ordered a smoked salmon sandwich which was very tasty. After 2 more BF, I settled for coffee, husband went off for his treatment. Nicely relaxed, boarding was called so we set off, bumping into one of the ladies from Loose Women, at the entrance. A shame she didn't come in a bit earlier, would have liked to have had a chat with her. She was on her own and looked a bit lost. Anyway, after a quick 'hello' we were off, again. Priority boarding in place and a nice welcome by name at the door only to find someone sitting comfortably in husband's seat. He got his A's and K's mixed up. Once he had moved we settled in and the cabin filled up quickly. We were in 16 and 17 K, it's so roomy at this end, compared to the next section were it appeared very crowded. The seat was fine, very clean. CC came round almost immediately taking jacket and offering drinks. Decided to stick with the BF. Hot towels distributed and we taxied off a few minutes later. Once airborne the CC came round taking further drinks orders and chatting with the passengers. The FSM was very friendly and introduced herself to everyone. Lunch orders were taken and the films started.
I wanted to see Alice in Wonderland but gave up after a while, the picture was so dark that it was difficult to make out who was who at times, so I gave up on that one and watched 2012 instead. I had made a mistake with my choice of lunch, I ordered the Virgin Mary Soup with a dash of Vodka, it was terrible. Probably just my palate, but it was very dark, almost black and very bitter. Far too much Worcestershire Sauce methinks. I then had the Chicken Tikka Masala with steamed rice from the Light Bites which was very nice followed by the clotted cream cheescake and strawberry compote, also good. No wine with lunch (not a wine drinker), just water, followed by coffee.
After a short rest, husband and I popped down to the bar, we both ordered a cognac and diet coke and were joined by two fellow passengers. After another round of drinks, one of the passengers asked if there were any nibbles going, unfortunately, our bartender informed us that they had run out of nuts and crisps and olives!

crew were very attentive throughout and we landed more or less on time. So all in all a very pleasant trip. From plane to immigration didn't take that long and our cases came off quickly. Grabbed a taxi to the hotel. We were staying at the Hilton on Union Square (because husband needed 3 nights stay to retain his gold status!). The hotel was buzzing when we arrived, the world cup footie was on all the screens so the lounge area was packed. We were booked into the tower king suites but were given a king deluxe room. So I went back down to the desk and complained and was immediately given a super king suite. Wonderful view of the city, huge air conditioned room, sofa and large walk-in dressing room. I will say this for the Hilton, their beds are very comfortable! The breakfast buffet in the Urban Tavern was excellent. Set us up nicely for the day to explore the sights. (Yes, we did the 'Ride the Ducks') Had a two day 'Hop on Hop off' pass, and rode on the cable cars. We were in SFO only for 3 days before going onto Colorado, so this was the quickest way to see the sights without too much wear and tear on shoe leather!
Return report trip to come in a few days (if anyone is still interested!!)
