This is my first ever TR, so I don't know what it will be like.

I always fly with Virgin. I won't go anywhere else because I think they are quality. And this flight confirmed that to me even more. This was my first flight PE and I was quite simply blown away.

Checkin was a bit of a pain, the online checkin the night before kept crashing and saying that I would have to do this LHR. It has been quite a common issue for me, it did the same in Feb coming back from IAD. But when I got to LHR I tried the self service checkin and this was working fine until it went to print the documents off and then it went wrong as well (I must have been cursed!!!).

Anyway managed to eventually checkin fine and breezed through security and then took the trip around Duty Free. We then took the long walk to the boarding lounge where our aircraft was waiting (Varga Girl).

We boarded nice and promptly and were greeted by the crew who as always in my experience were warm and friendly. Our seats were brilliant, two windows over the right wing and the pre-flight drinks were a great touch. We left a couple of minutes late I believe but take off was smooth (which is great for me as I really cannot stand flying).

The IFE was started and a little sluggish at first but ok when up and running and considering my last couple of flights have been on the LGW & 343's I remembered how good V:Port was. Food was served and the braised beef was nice and I was nicely settled in for the flight which was uneventful until the last hour and half.

So with 90 minutes left of the flight I get up to get a drink for my wife who told me that she was feeling really hot. So off I go and the next thing I know she has gone white as a sheet and then collapses in the aisle, fortunately caught by me. This was were I got worried. The crew however were FANTASTIC (I cannot emphasise this point as to how great they were) within seconds they were with us, had a pillow and we had my wife in the recovery position on the floor. Throughout the whole time she was there they crew were brilliant. She was given oxygen and constantly reassured that everything was alright. They then were able to find the only UC bed free and were able to get her to lie down to see if that would help. Fortunately there was also a Dr onboard who came to help and she was brilliant too. The flight service manager was brilliant he was making sure my wife was ok and trying to arrange a welcoming party at LAX for when we landed.

They were able to inform LAX that the paramedics were needed and they would meet us at the stand. My wife was looked after by the brilliant crew for landing and we were whisked off of the plane by the LAFD to check on my wife. The crew were also happy because it meant that we didn't have to circle LAX we could just come straight into land and straight onto the nearest stand (every cloud!!!)

Fortunately there was nothing wrong, altitude sickness. But every person who was involved in this was out of this world, my wife and I cannot thank the crew and the Dr onboard enough for everything that they did to help. If anybody knows what would be the best way to write or email in so I can make sure the right people get the recognition they deserve then email address' or snail mail address would be great.

The flight was great, they crew were great and I know more than ever I will only ever fly on one airline VS all the way. Thanks! y) y) y)

Sounds like a good flight, then transcended itself following your wife's sickness. Kudos to all involved. Sometimes I read these stories and then wonder why people on other forums speculate about VS's 'immature' staff!

As for writing, I'd send a letter to SRB at the Crawley HQ with thanks and where you can remember (don't post here), mention names (if only first names, then the flight #, date and cabin can help track people down). VS has been good in the past at ensuring positive passenger comments get down to the staff involved.

Hope your wife is fully recovered and it didn't spoil your holiday.

2nd time in a couple of weeks where pax have reported excellent performance from VS staff due to illness on board.

Glad to hear that your wife is okay - hopefully you can enjoy the rest of your holiday.

I know from experience that when someone collapses onboard, your training just takes over as I can see happened on your flight. Please write into VS and they'll be able to pass your appreciation on to the crew concerned. :)

Ooh! What a start to the holiday. I'm glad that the cabin crew rose to the occasion and as Tinks said, their training kicked in. I do hope your wife is fully recovered and doesn't have a recurrence on the return journey
