Here is a quick TR. The main reason for this is that seat 23F on the 346 does not have any ratings on the v-flyer seat planner and it deserves one, just so future v-flyers can be aware of the problems.

Anyway back to the report. Up bright and early on Saturday morning and made my way to Heathrow. I dropped the car off at Quality Parking which was Ok, bit of a delay before leaving for T3 but significantly cheaper than the meet and greet.

Check in was good and I was through security and in to the clubhouse in no time. I tried manfully to force a few drinks down but the exploits of the previous day at the Gold Cup in Cheltenham meant that the alcohol in take was severely limited due to hangover!!! I ordered the breakfast which was delicious but tiny, so much so I ordered a sausage sandwich later on.

On to the aircraft and in to seat 23F, as I mentioned in my previous post the person next door to me was upgraded ahead of me, a gold card holder but we’ve done this to death and I’m not bitter… (not much!!).

Anyway on the seat, which is dreadful!!! Nothing particularly wrong with the seat itself, I think the recline is slightly limited but this was not the major problem. 23F and 23D for that matter are located right next door to the toilet, so much so you hear the flush every time someone is in there. I was also surprised how many people leave the door open once they have finished leaving the light and various smells to distract me, so much so I spent most of the flight slamming the door shut myself, my anger growing on each occasion.

Had the toilet be managed correctly in terms of stopping Y passengers coming through the closed curtain to use the toilet the problem would have been minor, however this was not the case and literally the toilet was in use for most of the 10hr flight.

Eventually one of the cabin crew did tell the queuing hoards that the curtain meant that these toilets were for PE customers and please use the toilets situated in Y, which did reduce the numbers but this was about a hour away from landing.

Anyway, enough of the seat as I’m winding myself up about it again… The cabin crew were great, food was good and V-Port worked.

Q) Will the seat and upgrade issues put me off travelling VS again?

A) No.

Q) Will I ever accept a seat in row 23?

A) Not unless every other option has been thoroughly explored, including moving into Y!!!

At least you got 23F - I got stuck in 23G once, last minute booking, no other option ... row 23 in PE is abominable (and I paid >£2,000 for it on that occasion!

We've said it before, if VS place the loos in the centre, they'd probably get another seat in, and lessen the misery for the poor souls stuck in these seats.

I empathize with you.

Totally agree with you,and after all the feedback from pax and crew about seats next to toilets, they've done it once again on the 330 :(

I too am a fervent hater of the middle seats in row 23 :(! . These were the only purchasable PE seats on my flight back from LAX last week and I had no hesitation in staying where I was ( in my cramped seat in Y :0 ).

Thanks for the TR y)

The people at VS who decided to put those seats like that opposite the washrooms should be made to sit in them every time they fly VS just to see how bad they really are.

Thank you for the TR and the perils of row 23.

Thanks for the TR.

Agree completely re: row 23 between the toilets, awful and I'd not be happy paying the 'premium' to sit there! The Y passenger issue continues to be an issue with the CC unable to man it.

I think this should be a part of the pre-take-off announcements and reinforced by the captain as they do on US airlines.
