I was somewhat skeptical about our request for bulkhead seats being met on our return journey, as, when i went to check on "Manage my Booking", the original seats booked at time of ticket purchase ( 29hjk) were gone, leaving 3 blank spaces. My initial thought was that our seats were in the process of being reallocated, and this proved to be the case. When i checked later, Seats 21ABC had been allocated- brilliant.
Our outward flight on VS073 was the quietest i'd ever experienced on a MAN-MCO flight, so, being the cynical type that i am, i expected VS074 to be packed to the rafters, but i was wrong, quite wrong. It too was barely half full. 214 on board, if i remember the FA's announcement correctly. I was also surprised by the 1st Officer's claim of a 7hr15 min flight back to Man. i thought, blimey, that's a heck of a tail wind!
In flight meals were significantly better than on VS073. I opted for the Beef and veg, which was really quite tasty, many rungs further up the ladder than NHS quality. Breakfast was the familiar ham roll, in the true American style, complete with a good dollop of cheese. It was quite nice, although, after 17 days of dining out in Orlando and surrounding areas, i'm happy to lay off the cheese for a while lol!
The flight was super smooth, only a hint of mild turbulence midway across the pond. A very smooth landing into MAN pleased DW very much, after the terror she suffered at a Storm-struck MCO. We landed at 0839, precisely 7hrs and 15mins after our take off. Unfortunately, there was no gate immediately available, so our early arrival was cut down to 20 mins in the end, but that's no fault of VA's. It was nice to arrive at a sunny MAN for a change!
So, they we are, another pretty faultless experience with VA. I'm already looking for flights from LHR-BOS, as i think we've done Orlando, Florida for that matter to death. Time to start planning a new adventure to New England, i think
