We had not been able to check in online, probably something to do with the fact we upgraded with the PE vouchers.
So we arrived at LGW in plenty of time and went straight to PE check in. The lady at checkin was very surly, sounded like she had a cold so let her off but not a great start. I told her we had not been able to checkin online and she said it's because only 60% of people can !! Confused me ...
Anyway I was my usual cheery self and made a joke about something or other and that seemed to cheer her up.
I checked that we had seats upstairs and she confirmed we were in row 78.
We were swiftly through faast track security, although normal security was not busy either.
Time for some brekkie at Franky and Bennys and a spot of shopping before heading to gate 13(!) for a 13:00hr takeoff

We picked up a packed lunch for our son as our kids meal had been deselected when we upgraded to PE and I didn't realise til the day before the flight which is too late as it happens.
We arrived at the gate about midday, it was clear that the flight was not full. We boarded soon after and headed upstairs

Hadn't been upstairs for a few years, had forgotten how spacious it feels :-) We settled in and welcome drinks were handed out.
Won't go into too much detail but the cabin crew were excellent. Very attentive and friendly. I think there were only about 230 passengers on board and the upstairs cabin was about 50% full which gave it a nice feel.
Lunch was usual edible stuff, followed by ice cream and then sandwiches before landing. Entertainment system is very poor, no menu and I kept missing the beginning of the films. Thank goodness for Ipad and a book. Our son loved the Disney channel though

Landed a bit early and got off the aircraft quickly and not too long a wait in immigration as we were near the front of the queue and just ahead of another jumbo landing.
Our luggage came round the belt just as we did, then back on again, us on the monorail and we were at the Dollar desk within the hour. Bit of rain in Orlando but that soon cleared and we had a fab week in the parks and then a relaxing week on Marco Island.. highly recommended !!!
Return TR - uneventful, VS016 on 5/3/12. Again very light load and attentive crew
