this was the first leg of my 3 day little sleep trip back to the UK. the seat map finally opened up 7 hours beofre OLCI opened and I bagged 79A. this was confirmed at OLCI (only seq 3 :( ) and the map looked pretty open with no one beside me.

a good trip to the airport and with only hand baggage I went straight through security. Interestingly the TSA agent was very friendly with the 4 PAX in front of me greeting each by their first name (all Americans) and as soon as she saw my UK passport just grunted 'ok'. charming.
arrived at gate 87 at 6.45 and boarding started soon after.
a drink arrived (just one) slowly with little interaction from the FC. as we pushed back 5 minutes late to my delight 79C was empty.......for about 10 minutes, as the seat belt light was extinguished the guy in 78C moved back as his IFE had crashed.

Menus, headphones and amenity packs distributed again with little ceremony. The FSM made an announcement which was barely loud enough to hear and very bland...it set the tone for the whole flight, the CC giving the impresssion of going through the motions without really making an effort.

Oh I forgot a minor celebrity spot in HK a former soap 'star' with family, very nice and normal.

dinner was served and to my suprise the beef was still available. as a meal its not a bad offering at the moment and the choc mousse is pretty nice. the litttle bottle of merlot washed it all down.

with a neighbour and no room to stretch it was a fairly uncomfortable night with little sleep. watched the sherlock holmes film as it was all I thought worth seeing, then listened to my walkman the rest of the trip.

breakfast declined as I knew I had a proper one waiting for me at Mums :D .
landing at just on 9am to the cold and rain, typically this time they let the front section deplane first and then we were off. a bit of a queue for passports and due to not having any bags i was in the car before 930.

so a quick summary
ground staff -no contact so no rating
seat - was as good as it can be , I just cant sleep but thats me
food, not too shabby
entertainment - as bad as always
cabin crew, first flight for ages where i havent given excellent, this one just went through the motions and it was noticeable.

all in all an average trip ..........lets hope for better Tuesday on the way back

Thanks for the TR! A shame about your crew as everything else seemed just ok. At least Sunday turned out good weather wise!! Safe trip back :-)

Flabound

Thanks for the TR y) y)

It is a shame when you have a crew that just go through the motions, but as you pointed out, the FSM did set the trend.

Good on getting 79A in the current booking situation and still b ing able to get the beef being at the back ;)

What is it with VS running out of Beef - We were on VS28 in April 28th and they only had 10 Beef for the entire PE cabin!
At least the Chicken was quite tasty though :)

Could the cabin crew issue be because it's and overnight flight? Ours was the same as in the TR.

You did a good thing not having breakfast - the full english was FOUL! :)
