V-Flyer

travelled out to Boston yesterday, normally i'd be travelling on a Sunday but various reasons meant me coming a day early. Got to the Clubhouse around noon to find most of it full of Chelsea FC waiting to depart to Seattle on their summer tour. There must have been at least 30-40 of them including the first team, coaches & various hangers-on. Despite this service was quick & i got settled into a window seat with a Redhead After a burger & a couple of Breakfast Martinis (excellent cocktail) i had a quick mosey round a quiet clubhouse - must be the difference between a saturday & sunday - & eventually got called to the gate around 2:15.

Got settled in my seat with UC looking mostly full. Captain announced a slight delay pushing back as we were right at the point where the runways were being transferred from Easterly to Westerly, but he also announced a short flight of just over 6 hours. once we were up in the air i got a slightly warm beer & decided on my movie choices.

Lunch was the smoked salmon - nice but a bit of salad garnish wouldn't have gone amiss - & the pea and mint tortelini which was pretty nice although after the clubhouse burger i wasnt really that hungry (that said i still polished off a chocolate pudding ). An Amuse-bouche was given to everyone pre-lunch & unnanoucned, the girl put it down almost apologetically on my table with no explanation of what it actually was - some slightly pea & mint flavoured mousse in a tiny cup with 2 small breadsticks to eat if off. i can only assume it was left over tortelini filling most of the pax seemed to try a mouthful & leave the rest. Afternoon tea came around & seemed a little chaotic as though the crew were still getting to grips with the plates & individual afternoon tea stand. most people were just having one or two items which meant the stands weren't needed & were just taking up trolley room.

Straight into boston with no air traffic delays & into the welcome sight of an empty immigration hall. From 'plane to limo inside of 30 minutes is definately a result.

Thanks hat. I like that fact(not sure why) that the flights in to BOS are still quick. My last few have all been under 6 hours, the last one we were an hour early!!!
Off there again on Thursday. Might just try one of those Breakfast Martinis instead of my normal red...

A very prompt and enjoyable TR, thanks for posting! Does sounds like a great flight time and quick time out of the airport! I'm sure it is work out there for you but if not enjoy this great city!

sadly yes it's work. i wonder if the flight times are being affected by the southerly jet stream that's causing the wet uk summer; if it's pushed south presumably the planes aren't flying into the normal headwinds?

The breakfast martini is definatley worth a try; marmalade vodka with lemon, orange. Sweet & bitter

I have found it slightly interesting that on my flights the crew never seem to really know what the Amuse-bouche is when they put it down - the two different ones I have had have been tasty, but I like to know what I am eating!
