LGW to LAS in PE, but return trip in Economy.

Virgin Atlantic now use the brand new international terminal at McCarran Airport. Terminal 3 is a vast improvement on the old terminal. Ground staff were excellent, being helpful and very efficient.

I arrived first at check-in to upgrade to PE but was advised by check in to save my money as the flight was only half loaded and plenty of seats were available in economy. They assigned me an entire center row to myself which I was grateful for. I appreciated their honesty and unwillingness to let me spend extra hundreds of Dollars that I didn't need to.

Facilities at the new terminal were great. Plenty of places to eat and drink, though not all are open yet. Boarding for the flight was quick and efficient.

This time round we got English Rose as our plane home. She appeared in much better condition than our outbound aircraft, Ruby Tuesday. The seats looked in good condition and the IFE, though dated, operated perfectly with clear video throughout.

Crew were friendly, helpful and professional. Even though this was a night flight, they still moved around the cabin offering water and juice throughout the flight.

The main meal was very tasty and comprised of a Beef Casserole with plenty of Beef with a Ceasar Salad. My one complaint is regarding portion size. Very small and it flet like eating a childs meal.

Overall the flight was fine and the staff friendly and professional.?

The rows were blocked off in case of IFE failure, to ensure spare seats were available to move people to if required. 4 staff were asked to move to these rows inflight from premium to make way for full fare passengers to move to staff seats in premium due to IFE failure. The crew were thinking ahead and managed to keep everyone happy. You are lucky you were on a flight with such a light load and got 3 seats to yourself...considering you only actually paid for one!!!!

Also due to weight and balance on flights with light loads rows 21 to 37 ate normally blocked for take off :-)

Return_to_Virgin wrote:As I thought, crew looking after crew. Funny that not one member of those that were moved decided to use ANY of the IFE on those economy seats they were moved to, and instead used them as beds at various points during the flight.

Funny also that once they had woken from their slumber, they all returned to PE. Don't tell me...they returned to sit on the laps of those passengers they gave up their seats for! v(

Pull the other one, it's got bells on!

The way I read it was that the passengering crew gave up their PE seats to allow the paying customers to use the IFE. They obviously didn't want to use the IFE and were happy to give them up

As for returning to PE, all passengers are required to be in their assigned seats for take off and landing

And there really is no need to be so rude to someone who is giving information and possibly was crew on that flight
