I was very excited about my first ever trip to NYC, despite this being my eighth trip to the US, so I had been counting down the days eagerly for this flight. We set off from Nottingham very early, and after a straight forward train journey to St Pancras and connecting tube to Heathrow, we arrived at around 12.30. I had a problem with the online check in the day before, it had allocated us seats in a 3 by the window and in the centre. I like to walk around the aircraft periodically so this was unacceptable. The ground staff were very helpful in swapping our seats, and we ended up bagging one of the few twos at the back. Result!

After a fairly long and dull wait, we were called to the gate. Unfortunately, the flight had been delayed by 45 minutes due to having to swap captains at the last minute and we finally pushed off at around 5.30.

The flight was pretty uneventful, the IFE was V-Port and malfunctioned and they had to do several mass resets. I was too tired to concentrate on a movie fully so just snoozed and listened to some of the audio. I did not take any of the food due to having eaten at Heathrow and having a massive dislike of the economy offerings. The drinks service was regularly and they were happy to serve other drinks from the galley at any other point. The crew were friendly and helpful throughout.

We touched down at Newark at around 8 p.m. and the security was surprisingly and pleasingly efficient and we were through within minutes. We were then picked up by a minibus shuttle and were in Manhattan within 40 minutes and enjoyed a great trip!

Good TR although, Security at EWR being efficient :0

I have very different memories of that place, reason I like heading through JFK to be honest. Maybe it has changed, must try it out again..

Newark is my preferred choice ... always found Immigration friendly and efficient...queues tend to move quickly. Although, this may be due to the last few flights being VS17, and the hall is pretty much empty by then. :D
