As I am now settling back into reality, I thought I would rekindle thoughts of our holiday and write a trip report.

Arrived at the south terminal parking at 10ish. We usually stay with family who live close the night before and this was actually the first time we had driven down on the morning. Anyway, parked up and took the very short walk over to the south terminal.

Headed for zone A, which was very quiet and walked straight up to the dedicated PE check in. Very friendly agent, had us checked in very swiftly, put the priority security stickers on and off we went.

Through security in no time and off to the No 1 lounge. Second time in here and its ok, nothing more, nothing less – seems to be a lot of staff who don’t do much and takes a bit of time to get served at the bar, but the views are good and it sure beats waiting in the terminal. Bottle of champagne ordered to get the holiday started and enjoyed a couple of hours relaxing.

Took a stroll down to the gate around 12.15, knowing (thanks to the which aircraft section) that we were only a short walk away from the plane. Boarded straight away, no problems.

We were on a re-fit and had seats confirmed for the bubble. First impressions, not such a ‘private’ feel as before and a little cramped with the additional economy seats. Although I did take a look at the downstairs cabin and in my opinion, that looked a little cramped as well – without sitting down there its hard to comment fully, but my preference is still upstairs for PE. Had the back row of the PE cabin (24 I think), seats A and C.

Sparkling wine offered, along with orange juice. Take off was smooth and so was the rest of the flight really, hardly any bumps. Had a one male and one female crew look after us. Can’t say I was that impressed really, both looked like it would take a top comedian a good while to crack a smile! Warm towels handed out, along with the menus.

I am sorry but I can’t remember the food options (i’ve slept a few times since then...), but have to say the food wasn’t as bad as previous flights, especially the starter. Drinks run, followed by the food service and the usual Brandy and Baileys. Crew did one more OJ/Water run, before the snack was served before landing. Oh, and the chocolate ice cream stick thingy, which was ok.

I was slightly annoyed as when I went to take an orange juice from the female member of crew, she let go too soon and quite a bit spilled down my jumper, but no offer of anything to clean this off was provided, nothing, she just walked off. Its one of those where I may have not picked it up correctly/she may have let go too soon, but normally in that circumstance, the server apologises and can’t do enough to help – not this time..

Entertainment system is superb, second time using it and I have to say, it was great. I did have my ipad also, so had plenty to keep me entertained and the time flew by. I was also not driving the other end, so had a good few drinks and have to say, really enjoyed the flight. The crew could have been better, but good experience overall.

Upper class and PE downstairs off first, followed by upstairs and we were through immigration in 20 minutes. Off to the Budget desk to pick up our car.

Thanks for TR,I haven't flown on lgw refit yet but would have thought the PE upstairs would have felt more private than the old config as there aren't as many PE seats up there,Is there no curtain drawn across to divide the cabins?

Sounds like a fairly average flight. I had orange juice thrown over me on a VS flight, they couldn't do enough to help me clear it up. Shame you didn't get the same treatment :(
