V-Flyer

So following from my earlier post from the Clubhouse, I'd booked a haircut at 7pm so settled down to Chicken Jalfrezi and champagne, followed by Banofee pudding. I had a slow and steady redhead at the bar, as I was trying to pace myself, but then my haircut was delayed and they plied me with more drink as I waited!

After a quick haircut (I don't have a lot, so there's no fancy styling involved), I went up to the deserted Grey Goose loft and sat chatting to the barman. Unfortunately, due to "New York" and "Newark" sounding very similar I managed to mentally ignore a couple of calls for my flight and had a super brisk walk/jog to the gate after the "third and final boarding call" for gate 32.

Luckily they didn't leave without me (and I wasn't the last person on board) and I was met by a charming cabin crew. We were only 187 pax and we were wheels up at 8.47pm, byt which time I was already watching "A good Day to Die Hard". Dinner was served after about an hour (I had the Salmon starter, Beef main and Sticky toffee pud) which was the cue for VERA to crash and the turbulence to pick up. They got Vera back up and running during dessert but by that time I felt it best to take a nap (I'd been up at 5 with our dogs, and the food and drink and late hour were taking their toll).

Didn't bother having the bed made up, just snuggled under the duvet and rested. On waking I moved onto Jack Reacher, but I timed it very badly so we arrived at the gate with 10 minutes to go (so I've got something to look forward to on the return flight). During my waking hours the crew were attentive without being bothersome, offering drinks and food before landing, but I was stuffed from the two dinners I'd had! Landed at 11.15 and was at the gate dead on time.

Into Newark airport I was fifth into the immigration hall so was second at one of the 3 non-resident booths - looked like the queue built up pretty rapidly behind me (especially as they had to take my fingerprints and photo twice) but was moving at an ok pace. My bag was 10th on the belt, and it was straight through customs and into the limo, reaching the hotel just after midnight.

Now for 4 days of meetings, a day of shopping, then back to the UK Saturday night.

Thank you for the TR. Shame about the VERA crash and the inevitable mealtime turbulence.

Thanks for the TR ,sounds like you had a similar good experience to me on this flight ,yet another positive posting ,seems like VS have got hold of things at last .

Sounds like a fair flight, aside from VERA misbehaving of course.

Good to hear the customs and immigration at EWR did not cause much bother too, I had a slightly longer wait through JFK a couple of weeks back.
