We are lowly RED but once seated (12A&K,14A)cabin crew introduced themselves and called us by name which was nice. Swapped my jacket for a glass of Lanson and menus were handed out. Between us we sampled the Ham Hock and the Barley and Vegetable Broth. Mains were Fillet of Beef for the girls and Chicken Caeser Salad for me, all of which were good. Good wine selection too.I skipped dessert but Chocolate Salted Caramel Pudding and Strawberry Custard Tart were both apparently very tasty. I had cheese and a very generous measure of port. Think Virgin could be a bit more adventurous with cheese Shropshire Blue was good but Red Leicester and Mild Cheddar both pretty bland.
IFE was fine and enjoyed Lincoln. Attentive cabin crew kept drinks topped up and pretty soon it was time for sandwiches and cakes. Spent a while at the bar chatting to some of the crew about new uniforms etc. Arrived at SFO just after two flights from Asia so immigration was hectic but things moved surprisingly quickly and we were in our hotel less than two hours after landing.
This was our first UC experience and was everything that all you V Flyers told us to expect. From Check in, to Clubhouse to the UC cabin all was good. Having returned PE from LAX it will be UC both ways in future.
