return trip from a 3 day business trip. I posted separately about the EWR lounge cleanliness but overall its a great place to spend a couple of hours pre-flight & the food was excellent, i'd highly recommend the autumn pavlova y)

the incoming had left LHR late so we were around 30 minutes late boarding. I'd opted for the snooze zone upstairs for the return leg so as soon as we had completed the initial climb out it was hot chocolate & bed down for the 6 hour flight. Thankfully only one person in the snooze had opted for a meal - it still surprises me that despite having to confirm you know you are in this zone, you can still opt for a full meal service.

despite the late departure we landed 45 minutes ahead of schedule. With only 2 hours to get to T5 for my BA transfer to MAN I had to skip revivals & decided to use flight transfers for the first time in a couple of years. This went fine until the immigration area coming into T5 which was 2 desks for UK passport holders - until someone turned up with the wrong documentation which meant the border agent had to take them elsewhere, leaving all UK passport holders with 1 desk. Given that this was transfers, therefore all passengers had onward connections to make, this was a ridiculous situation & we still had security to clear. Fair to say in the future I will revert back to going through arrivals at T3 & making my own way between terminals.

I dont think they can reasonably deny someone food service because they are sat in the snooze zone. If they are bothering people they can always ask them to sit at the bar I suppose. Were there seats available downstairs is the question?

Thanks for the TR, a shame about flight connections... LHR really should be improving this and tbh Customs and Immigration as a whole ii)
