We have flown UC a few times in the past but our most recent flights have been in PE so we were very much looking forward to our return to the UC cabin.

We had been having quite a stressful time at home right up to our taxi picking us up (taxi pick up at 9.30 am, emergency plumber was with us at 4.30am!) as we had just moved house and some of our renovations were not going quite to plan. So to say we were looking forward to our flight and holiday would be an understatement!

We arrived at MAN with plenty of time to spare, check in lady was efficient and pleasant with it. We grabbed some breakfast and then headed up to the Escape Lounge, peaceful and calm, just what we needed.

Our girls (now aged 9 & 7) had flown UC three times previously but this was when they were much younger so they were very excited and we had bagged 6A and 6K for them. Hubby and I were in 7A and 7K. There were only another three passengers in UC. On boarding we were offered champagne which was hugely appreciated. We were offered lunch but to be honest I wasn't overly hungry so asked for just the dessert and cheese. Both very nice. Hubby was not overly impressed with his meal, he is rather fussy but I have to say the food did not look as appetising as I remember.

The whole flight was a dream! As the cabin was pretty much empty our eldest and I sat at the bar chatting with the CC and one lady passenger. The other two passengers were two young men who were glued to their laptops/ipads so I did not feel we were hogging the bar area too much! We also had a chat with the pilot at the bar (he was not partaking I hasten to add!). Our eldest was quite disappointed to hear that flying a 747 across the Atlantic is pretty boring!!!! The FSM served diet pepsi in a champagne glass for our eldest, she was thrilled. It's the first time I've ever had a 'proper chat' with CC, thoroughly enjoyable. It's also the first flight with VA I have been on where I didn't touch the IFE, we were having such a lovely time I didn't get round to it! The CC kept me topped up with champagne throughout the flight (possibly a small clue as to why the whole flight went so well!), luckily I was drinking it at a snails pace along with a glass of water here and there or it could have ended quite messily! Our girls enjoyed the IFE enormously and watched a couple of movies.

We disembarked quickly, IIRC the PE passengers first and then UC and I'm pretty sure the CC held back the passengers in the bubble til after UC.

The immigration hall was bursting. This was the first time we had taken the later flight from MAN and I thought my worst fears about lengthy waits had come true but to be fair, most of the booths were manned and we were through in just under half an hour.

I can safely say this was our best VA flight to date, service was fabulous. I have to say though that the fact that our girls are older now and pretty well trained ): also contributes to an overall more enjoyable experience.

Ali :)

It's the little touches like this which make flying VS special in my opinion.

Glad to hear you had a such a good flight!
