Sitting on the balcony in Orlando, drink on the table, and no rain.

Daughter toook us down nice and early to LGW, got called over to UC check-in and off for a full English. With bacon and eggs safely tucked away, went quickly through security and spent a bit of time helping the economy to recover.

Went to the gate as soon as it came up on the board and were soon joined by what seemed to be the rest of London.

When it came to boarding, there was an apology because PE would not be called until the end.

Soon found out why when we sat down and had water dripping on to us. Seems that with the heavy downpour and the wind, while we were doing our bit for the chancelor, it had come in through the upper deck door (closed!) and was leaking through the floor into the overhead bins and onto seats 16H and K.

Closed up early and pushed back just 1 minute after the scheduled 1 pm departure. Slow taxi and off we went on a westerly departure. Climbed like a 737 even though fully loaded (449 pax, 16 cc and 2 up front) and the water turned from a series of drips into a steady flow over both of us.

The flight was as normal as you can get with a few bumps here and there but generally nice and smooth.

Crew were cheerful and helpful and I cannot complain about the service.

We both chose the beef stew with dumplings and when it came, it really did not look appetising at all. I expected to at least have some rice or potato with it but nothing. Having said that, it tasted ok.nothing special but ok.
The salmon salad was bland and unappetising and best left alone.

The chocolate mousse was stodgy and the best part of the meal was the bread roll.

Overall, it is very obvious the VA are economising on their PE package.

We landed about 15 minutes lare but were through immigration and customs in just under half an hour which must nearly qualify as a world record. Even the two officers were cheerful and chatty - so different to the usual miserable gits.

Anyway, happy to be in the land of the mouse again and now time to drag this tired old body off to bed ( Well it is 5 past 4 in the morning in the UK)

On Emirates you have to pay for First to get an in flight shower. :) Hopefully the leak was happening because even thought the doors were closed they weren't rammed as tightly shut as they will be in flight...

Have a great time.

Paul

Ps dumplings AND potatoes or rice?

Thank you for the TR. What a shame the food offerering was so poor, we travel to Cancun in PE in two weeks time so will probably have the same menu. Have a wonderful holiday in Florida and I hope you find some nicer food there!

lol Paul.

Welsheagle, were you at least given prior warning of the dripping water and given blankets or something?
